Cultural Intern Scheme Placement Proposal Address where Placement would be carried out Performances Birmingham Ltd Symphony Hall Broad St Birmingham Description of the project/s to be undertaken The Cultural Intern will take responsibility for launching two new marketing schemes that are designed to increase ticket bookings from new audience groups. The schemes are: a) Student/Young Persons Scheme – aimed at 16-25 year olds (and full time students) offering discounts to members who sign up free. b) Arts Champions scheme – aimed at those living in ‘priority neighbourhoods’ in Birmingham – to offer them last minute cheap tickets as an incentive to attend more often. Priority neighbourhoods are council wards that have been identified by Birmingham City Council as falling within the worst 5% of the UK for multiple deprivation. Working in partnership with the City Council and community members, PBL delivers a range of education and community projects to our nominated priority neighbourhood (currently Erdington), of which the Arts Champions ticket scheme is a part. Planning of both schemes is currently underway. The Intern would work with the marketing team to finalise the plans and lead on their implementation. Intern’s role within the main placement project The intern would be responsible for launching, promoting and developing these schemes, as well as reporting on progress. They would work in conjunction with marketing, box office, comms and customer insight staff. Tasks include: a) Analysing and interpreting statistical audience data b) Writing and proofreading marketing copy c) Producing marketing and promotional materials, such In association with the as flyers, e-shots, social media and website d) Promoting the schemes in person, e.g. at Freshers events e) Distributing print f) Processing memberships g) Reporting on campaign progress and results Purpose of the Placement A good understanding of how an arts /leisure organisation promotes its products to specific target markets; the chance to try out and evaluate marketing and promotional techniques; the chance to evaluate and report on effectiveness; the chance to analyse customer and sales data, and use it to inform practice.
