Cultural Intern Scheme Placement Proposal
Address where Placement would
be carried out
Performances Birmingham Ltd
Symphony Hall
Broad St
Birmingham
Description of the project/s to
be undertaken
The Cultural Intern will take responsibility for launching
two new marketing schemes that are designed to
increase ticket bookings from new audience groups.
The schemes are:
a) Student/Young Persons Scheme – aimed at 16-25
year olds (and full time students) offering discounts
to members who sign up free.
b) Arts Champions scheme – aimed at those living in
‘priority neighbourhoods’ in Birmingham – to offer
them last minute cheap tickets as an incentive to
attend more often. Priority neighbourhoods are
council wards that have been identified by
Birmingham City Council as falling within the worst
5% of the UK for multiple deprivation. Working in
partnership with the City Council and community
members, PBL delivers a range of education and
community projects to our nominated priority
neighbourhood (currently Erdington), of which the
Arts Champions ticket scheme is a part.
Planning of both schemes is currently underway. The
Intern would work with the marketing team to finalise
the plans and lead on their implementation.
Intern’s role within the main
placement project
The intern would be responsible for launching, promoting
and developing these schemes, as well as reporting on
progress. They would work in conjunction with
marketing, box office, comms and customer insight staff.
