Consequences?”
In association with Compass Chambers

The TANQ committee are delighted to host a debate on Scottish Independence in
association with Compass Chambers. Kay Springham will chair a hearty and topical legal
debate between the Yes and No camps of Barney Ross and Clare Connelly. (Please note this
is an academic exercise and is not intended to represent the advocates’ personal views).
Drinks and nibbles will also be provided.
The debate will focus on the legal issues at stake in the referendum and the consequences
of independence. This is undoubtedly an event not to be missed. Sign up now at
www.rfpg.org/cpd:booking
The TANQ committee are also thrilled to offer two members the chance to work alongside
either Barney or Clare to prepare and take part in the debate. This is a once in a lifetime
opportunity to work alongside two extremely accomplished advocates. You will gain an
invaluable insight into how Counsel approaches legal debates. You will be given an
opportunity to understand the logic behind their approach to legal debates and the
importance of their research methods.
If you are interested in applying please email a short paragraph (maximum 250 words) on
why you should be picked to tanq@rfpg.org before 27 June 2014. We will announce the
winners shortly thereafter. Good luck!
