Objectives: After attending the presentation the learner will be able to:
1. Understand historical and cultural aspects of extended nursing.
2. Describe benefits and potential risks of extended nursing for mother and infant.
3. Become familiar with breastfeeding during pregnancy and tandem breastfeeding an
infant while still breastfeeding an older child.
4. Become familiar with some parenting theories in relationship to extended breastfeeding.
Accreditation: Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing
Medical Education to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.
CME Credit: Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1.0
AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their
participation in the activity.
