TASK: You will create a short video about going to the doctor’s office.

After watching the videos,
You must:

Call the doctor’s office and set up an appointment with the receptionist
(nurse).
Give your:

Insurance information
Brief description of symptoms
Appointment date and time

On the appointment day:
Sign in
Greet the nurse
Nurse: Ask patient for symptoms
(use at least 3 expressions for pain and 5 body parts)
Patient: Explain your concerns
(describe your pain (at least three expressions) and body
parts (at least 5 parts)
Sample #1 Listen to the following conversation between a patient and a nurse.
Afterwards, tell the emergency room doctor what the patient’s symptoms are. emergencia?
enfermera: Buenas noches. ¿Cuál es su paciente: No me siento bien. enfermera: ¿Qué le pasa? ¿Cómo se siente? paciente: Tengo un terrible dolor de cabeza. enfermera: Hmm…¿Algo más? ¿Le duele la garganta? paciente: Sí, un poco. También tengo tos. nurse: Voy a tomarle la temperatura. Tiene una fiebr e baja.
nurse: Hello. Why have you come to the emergency room?
patient: I don’t feel well.
nurse: What’s wrong? Can you tell me how you feel?
patient: Well, I have a terrible headache.
nurse: Hmm…Anything else? Does your throat hurt?
patient: Yes, it hurts a little. I have a cough too.
nurse: Let’s take your temperature……..You have a low fever.

Doctor: greet patient and review nurse’s report with patient, the examine the patient
Patient: explain pain
Useful Phrases:
No me siento bien
I don't feel well.
Me duele el estómago.
My stomach hurts.
You can substitute any body part in the above sentence to say something hurts.
¿Tiene fiebre (temperatura)
Do you have a fever?
The three words above can all be used to describe the English word for fever. Different words are used by different groups of people in different countries.
Mi brazo duele cuando lo levanto.
My arm hurts when I raise it up.
Esto no es serio.
This isn't a serious condition.
Por favor, respire profundo
Please breathe deep.

Are you currently taking any medication?

Are you allergic to any medications?
Regrese a verme en dos semanas.
Come back and see me again in two weeks.
