Purpose: Dr. Wolf is a general pediatrician that also runs a pediatric OMM clinic which makes up >50% of her clinical time. She is very interested in advancing OMM research to help give our profession more of the national recognition it deserves. There are multiple OMM studies our clinic is currently working on in conjunction with our pediatric residents.

Stipend: None

Length: Summer (June to August)

Housing: None, but have contacts to help you find housing in the Columbus area if needed

Parking: Free parking at Hilltop clinic

Fellow requirements:

Participant should be in good standing with OUHCOM and have successfully completed the first year of curriculum. The student selected for participation in this program must show documentation of the following before beginning the experience:

Up-to-date immunization record

Proof of current TB test completion

CITI training

Orientation:

Will be required to complete brief student orientation, and sign paperwork mandated by

Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Research:

The following are current research projects being conducted by Nationwide Children’s Hospital

Hilltop Primary Care Center.

Clinical Studies

OMM and feeding in neonates – being conducted with our pediatric residents at

Doctor’s Hospital newborn nursery. Randomized and blinded trial for infants with difficulty latching while breastfeeding. Could potentially aid in treatments, obtaining consent, and/or data review.

OMM and asthma – a study run out of the Hilltop Primary Care Center looking at the effects of OMM on PFTs in asthma patients. Pts receive pre- and post- OMM PFTs.

Currently enrolling patients. Can assist with obtaining consent, performing treatments, and data review/analysis.

OMM and concussions – This study is currently being designed to evaluate the effects of

OMM on acute concussion patients in conjunction with the department of Sports

Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Help is needed with grant-writing, study design, and obtaining consent once the study is in process.

Many other studies currently being considered including those evaluating OMM and appendicitis, post-op ileus, neonatal abstinence syndrome, headaches,

 plagiocephaly/torticollis, and ADHD.

Other

Assist with chart review of OMM clinic patients. We would like to publish what our clinic is seeing since it is a unique and new clinic design.

Work on writing up case studies of patients that have been seen in clinic including those with concussion, plagiocephaly, scoliosis, and other common pediatric conditions.
