Dear Families,
As with most classrooms, there is never enough time to work with each student individually every day.
Therefore, I am asking for your help. If you can spare a morning, afternoon, or an hour or so every
week, every other week, or just once a month, it will be most appreciated.
Below are listed some of the things that I would like help with.
Any time during the day:

Book orders, weekly readers (separating them, putting labels on them, stapling them)

Cutting things as needed

Copying papers on the copy machine

Art – various art projects

Sharpening pencils
Mornings – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 9:00- 9:30

Yellow Folders (putting the yellow folders in numerical order, taking homework out, putting
notes in)
Mornings – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 9:00-12:00

Literacy – tracing letters with students, letter activities, games

Reading – listening to students read

Writing – writing with individual students assisting them with letter formation, spaces,
punctuation, and short sentences.

Computer – assisting students with the computer in our classroom
Mornings – Thursday 10:40-11:25

Computer Lab – assisting with log in and shut down (easy to learn)
Afternoons – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday 1:00-2:30

Math – playing Math games or activities that supplement our lessons

Science –prep and assist for science explorations
Afternoons – Friday 2:30-4:00

Prize cart – students trade in their blue tickets for prizes.
Every one of the above activities has explicit directions so you will know exactly how to do it. You do not
need any experience to assist us in any activities. Research shows that students LOVE having a parent,
grandparent help out in classrooms. Unfortunately, siblings are not allowed to come in while you are
helping out.
