A. WHITNEY ELLSWORTH FELLOWSHIP APPLICATION
Independent Diplomat (ID) was founded by former British diplomat Carne Ross in response to the persistent inequities facing the politically vulnerable in the halls of international diplomacy. ID works with and for some of the most marginalized political actors to secure their effective participation in international discussions and negotiations about their future.
Independent Diplomat’s founding director A. Whitney Ellsworth, who actively helped build the foundation on which ID now rests, passed away in 2011. To honor his memory and the values that he held dear, ID staff, friends and the Ellsworth Family have created a fellowship in his name. The fellowship will offset some of the cost of undertaking an internship at ID, allowing a promising graduate student or recent graduate to work full-time at ID’s New York headquarters each year. Preference will be given to applicants who would otherwise be unable to undertake an internship in our New York office without the modest assistance provided by the fellowship stipend.
The fellowship is scheduled to begin in the Fall of 2015 for a period of approximately 4 months, but the start and end dates are flexible based on the successful candidates availability. The fellowship could begin as early as July 2015.
Stipend
The fellowship will provide a stipend of $5,000.
Application Process
Applications and supporting materials must be completed and returned to Independent Diplomat by
12:00pm (EDT) 30 May 2015. Please send all material as a PDF (preferable) or Word document to jobs@independentdiplomat.org

Candidates will be notified via e-mail in early June 2015 if they are selected to participate in an initial phone interview.
