HIALEAH GARDENS HIGH SCHOOL
21st Century Community Learning Center After School Program Schedule
(Monday-Thursday, 2:30-5:30 & Saturday, 8:30-2:30)
The YE2S program design builds on the 21st CCLC brand to create a center for learning, leadership and service at Hialeah
Gardens High School. The program is designed in 30 day cycles. Each cycle incorporates comprehensive academic and
personal enrichment services delivered in a program structure that allows for student knowledge and 21st century skills
development, as well as an extensive service-learning field experiences to museums and cultural sites, parks and natural
areas, and to cultural and educational events. Four over-arching themes will be explored within each 30 day cycle
including (1) literacy & arts education, (2) STEM (including nutrition & health), (3) leadership (college/career readiness,
drop-out prevention, entrepreneurship & success skills), and (4) social justice (violence prevention & character
education). Students register in the program to complete one of 3 program goals: Academic Enrichment, Attendance
Completion or Community Service. For those students enrolled with a program goal of Academic Enrichment, the
student will receive ½ Credit in Engaged Citizenship Course along with community service hours for Saturday
participation. Please note, 30 days attendance inclusive of all workshops is required to achieve every program goal; due
to the very tight schedule necessary for program completion, students are not permitted to arrive late or leave early.
(Students will be assigned to a mentor from 2:30 to 5:30. At 5:30, students will be dismissed to walk home or be picked
up by parent. Those students staying for night school or waiting to be picked up by a parent may report to the cafeteria
for a meal.)
