Wisbech Grammar School Foundation is committed to safeguarding and

Hours of Work:
This is a 38 week contract. Working hours are 15 per week over 5 days
per week. The working day will be worked between the hours of 4.15pm
and – 7.15pm. In addition to working hours you may be required to work
later evenings and occasionally at weekends to support events and
functions.
Holidays:
This is a term time plus 3.2 additional weeks (16 days).
Probationary Period:
In accordance with School policy, this appointment will be subject to a
six-month probationary period.
Medical Report:
The offer of appointment at Wisbech Grammar School will be conditional
upon the provision of a medical report, which satisfies the School.
Please note that all School buildings operate a no-smoking policy.

Wisbech Grammar School provides a Defined Contribution Pension

Principle Role
The post involves general cleaning duties in all areas of the school including offices and staff rooms.
Flexibility is important as it may be necessary to move around different cleaning areas of the school as
required.
Main duties and responsibilities:










Vacuum cleaning carpets and floors
Washing down paintwork, wiping desks
Sweeping and brushing floors and damp mopping where necessary
Dusting desks, chairs, ledges, windowsills, skirting boards, venetian blinds
Cleaning glass doors and mirrors
Cleaning fittings, taps etc. in toilet and shower areas
Toilet areas will be cleaned daily and will involve replacing soaps, towels, toilet paper, cleaning
drinking fountains and washbasins, disinfecting W.C.’s and urinals and washing floors.
Cleaning areas which require special treatment such as laboratories, technology workshops,
computer rooms, sports hall.
Buffing polished floors (training given)
Other tasks which may be assigned by the Caretaker or his assistant from time to time.
The school requires you to already hold, or be willing to work towards gaining a suitable professional
qualification for the role (eg NVQ in Cleaning). If this is not held, the school may be willing to support
you gaining the qualification and in this instance, the school may require you to pay back any costs
incurred for your training should you leave within 3 years of gaining your qualification.

This job description is provided to assist the post holder to know their principal duties. It may be
