Key Accountabilities/Primary Responsibilities (6-10 bullet points maximum) Planning To participate in the formulation of strategic plans for eLearning innovation and production, their development roadmaps and in the determination of levels and quality of service to be achieved. To advise iSolutions on the relevance and suitability of emerging technical and operational standards. To advise iSolutions’ Education Services Manager of the products and resources needed to meet the agreed operational and service specification. To determine the needs of University business processes and the needs of planned developments within the University and how best to deploy products and systems to meet those needs. 1 % Time Operational To build an effective eLearning Production team that can develop and deliver innovative and creative eLearning solutions to meet the University’s declared ambitions for Teaching and Learning. To develop and keep the production team at the forefront of learning technology delivery, to ensure projects are delivered that stimulate students as well as educate. Provide a flexible, proactive and skilled expert resource pool for publishing to ensure early engagement at the product concept stage through to product delivery. To work effectively with researchers and educators to design eLearning solutions that are most appropriate for the needs and requirements identified and support student learning most effectively. To effectively evaluate projects and determine value for money in eLearning delivery. To work with Researchers and Educators in formulating bids for research and teaching grants in terms of cost and time for multimedia production. To work with other key groups in developing and enabling learning technologies to promote learning in the digital age. To develop and implement quality assurance monitoring programmes, as agreed with the Education Services Manager and to create and deliver a continuous improvement programme for eLearning innovation and production. Management To manage the day-to-day work of the team and carry out performance reviews and appraisals for the team members. To develop relationships with and manage suppliers in the area of eLearning innovation and production. To undertake any other activities as required by the Director of iSolutions. Internal & External Relationships: (nature & purpose of relationships) To build effective relationships across the University to further the development of eLearning material. To build effective relationships with other Higher Education Institutions in order to benchmark eLearning production within the institution. The post holder will be expected to undertake the duties as part of an integrated team and will be expected to adopt priorities and engage in activities, which promote the effective working of the whole team. June 2011 2 Person Specification Criteria Essential Desirable Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience: Degree, equivalent higher qualification or significant relevant experience in Multimedia Design, Multimedia Technology, Visual Design, eLearning development or related field Postgraduate degree in Education (PGCE) Demonstrable and practical experience in eLearning production management in an HE or commercial environment Experience of audio and video editing using packages such as; Adobe Premiere, AfterEffects Soundbooth and programming experience How to be assessed Certificate Presentation /Interview Research experience Proven experience in: Adobe Creative Suite (Flash, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and Director Project Management qualification (Prince 2) ITIL certification Demonstrable knowledge of pedagogical models and methodologies Planning and Organising: Ability to develop long term vision for development of the Production team.
