TMCC High School Academic Plan
Directions for completing the Academic Plan:
1.
From the internet go to the TMCC High Website at http://www.tmcc.edu/highschool/
2.
Click on Students
3.
Click on “Download Academic Plan”
4.
Complete all areas of the form. This is a locked form. Tab from box to box to enter
information.
5.
Choose a career pathway that interests you (you may change your mind later). Your
Career pathway will give you a place to start in choosing college courses.
6.
Decide on goals and plans for the next few years in HS and after graduation
7.
Fill in all the HS courses you have taken and plan to take.
8.
List activities you have done and plan to do while in HS.
9.
Go to “File” on the menu bar Click “Save As”
10. Change the location to save the file to: a disk, flash drive, google docs or your own
hard drive.
11. Re-name the file with this format: Last Name_First Name_Grade
a. Example: Smith_John_10
12. You can now e-mail it to kswanson@washoe.k12.nv.us or print it to turn in to Kati and
or your Access teacher.
13. You now have the information you need to choose a program of study

you have the information you need to direct the course of your HS career.
Special note: the activities and documents you create during this exercise will be used in
your portfolio project your senior year.

ACADEMIC PLAN GLOSSARY
4-Year Plan
College Application Process
Every student in Washoe County
will have a 4 year plan on file
which includes their class
selections, career pathway, college
choice, program participation, test
completion and school
involvement.
ACT / SAT Test
Seniors work with the High
School Guidance Office to have
their individual transcripts and
applications sent to the colleges
of their choice.
County Career & College Fair
Military Presentations
College entrance exam that many
students take the Spring of their
junior year in high school.
A college and career event that
senior students participate in at
the local convention center.
ASVAB Test
The Armed Services Vocational
Aptitude Battery. Junior and
seniors can take this exam which
gives them valuable information
about their aptitudes and abilities
and how they relate to various
career areas.
Boys/Girls State
Course Registration
The process all students go
through each Spring of the
school year to enroll in classes
they want for the following
school year.
Military reps visit the high
schools to talk to interested
junior and senior students about
their various programs.
Credit Requirements
Required classes students need
to take to meet diploma
requirements for graduation
and or advanced diploma and
millennium scholarship.
Junior students can apply in the
spring to attend this 1 week
government based summer
program.
Opportunities available to
students to make-up failed
credits needed for graduation.

Opportunities to spend time
with people in the community

Proficiency Exam
State mandated tests students
must pass as a graduation
requirement. The tests include
math, reading, science and
writing.
Resume Creation
Students will create their own
individual resumes which reflect
their career goals, work
experience, club and sport
participation, etc.
Scholarship Search
The High School Guidance
Office offers a variety of
scholarship opportunities
during their senior year.
PSAT Test
Practice SAT exam offered to
students their 10th and 11th
grade years. The test is a
scholarship qualifying test for
juniors.
Transcript Review
Counselors meet with the
students in the classroom to
review their permanent
academic records.
