Position summary
The Program Co-ordinator, enter Department is responsible for the supervision of teaching staff,
coordination of the design, development, delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement of the
vocational education and training (VET) programs/courses offered by the Department, Faculty
and/or School, at the campus/es.
The Program Co-ordinator, Department, is also responsible for the co-ordination of student
administration and resources associated with the programs/courses conducted by the Department
at the campus/es.
In addition, the Program Co-ordinator will work with the Deputy Dean/Associate Director, Enter and
SBM to achieve the overall operational and strategic goals of the Faculty and/or School, taking on
specific projects where needed.
Key responsibilities
1.
Plan and coordinate the development, maintenance and delivery of VET programs ensuring
the application of a variety of teaching methods (including flexible delivery) and assessments
which reflect best practice teaching methodology.
2.
Coordinate the development, review, modification and continuous improvement of teaching
and assessment procedures and processes for various contexts.
3.
Coordinate the preparation, maintenance and evaluation of teaching and learning resources in
a variety of contexts.
4.
Timetable programs efficiently in consultation with the Deputy Dean/Associate Director, Enter.
5.
Deliver VET program/s and assessments in enter relevant program fields i.e. Nursing in
line with negotiated Work Plan. **DELETE IF NO TEACHING LOAD**
6.
Ensure compliance with the requirements of the University’s Quality Management System
(which incorporates the Australian Skills Quality Authority) and/or ISO by conducting regular
audits on courses/programs.
7.
Manage training needs analysis and skills audits for community and industry clients.
8.
Develop cross University, community and industry relationships and networks, and participate
in meetings and activities which enhance these relationships.
9.
Lead and supervise all teaching staff, including recruitment and induction of casual/sessional
staff, negotiating work plans - scheduled and unscheduled duties.
10. Ensure general student administrative activities, documentation and student results are
completed, graduation candidates are verified and all student records in general are kept up to
date.
11. Monitor students’ on-going educational progress and pastoral care in consultation with
teachers including the handling of student grievances in the initial stage.

12. Plan and manage resources, including making discretionary decisions associated with
delegated financial responsibilities, and contribute to the achievement of the Faculty and/or
School’s commercial targets.
13. Represent the work area on committees and forums and provide support to the Deputy
Dean/Associate Director, Enter on all matters including resources implications on Vocational
Education and Training courses/programs in the Department.
14. Contribute to the development of University policies and procedures and inform/advise
teaching staff on policy matters and subsequent changes.
15. Contribute to the preparation of tenders and submissions in conjunction with the Deputy
Dean/Associate Director, Enter and the School/Centre Business Manager.
16. Other duties and projects as directed by the Deputy Dean/Associate Director, Enter within the
scope of this position and the provisions of the Victorian TAFE Teaching Staff Multi-Business
Agreement 2009 (MBA).

Accountability and extent of authority
Under general direction from the Deputy Dean/Associate Director, Enter, the Program Co-ordinator
is responsible for the effective management of the teaching staff, learning and teaching resources
and VET courses/programs conducted by the Department, Faculty and/or School at the
campus/es.
The position covers a range of functions, including planning, budgeting, developing strategies,
managing contracts and implementing policies, associated with managing the teaching and
learning programs to achieve the desired outcomes for the Department.
Problem solving
In the context of the policy and procedures of the University, the Program Co-ordinator will need to
display initiative and generate innovative solutions to ensure the effective management of the dayto day delivery of teaching courses/programs in the abovementioned Department, Faculty and/or
School.

Judgement
The Program Co-ordinator will be required to make sound decisions recognising consequences on
the teaching and learning courses/programs and impact on achievement of targets and objectives
for the work area/Faculty/School and University as a whole.
Training and qualifications
A relevant vocational qualification at the Certificate III, Certificate IV, Diploma or Degree level
combined with an approved number of years industrial/professional experience.
A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40110 (or equivalent).
A minimum teaching qualification at Diploma AQTF Level 5 that includes supervised teaching
practice and studies in teaching methodology or equivalent.
Organisational relationship and impact
The Program Co-ordinator reports directly to the Deputy Dean/Associate Director, Enter and
receives broad direction from the Executive Director/Associate Director of Faculty and/or School
working closely with other staff members in the program area Faculty and/or School.
The position requires extensive professional knowledge and experience in teaching and learning in
the Vocational Education and Training context. The Program Co-ordinator will be expected to
contribute to the development of University educational learning and teaching policies and
procedures and provide advice and assistance to teaching staff, industry and community clients
and the broader University community.
The Program Co-ordinator will further be expected to represent the University and negotiate and
facilitate industry and community based Vocational Education and Training programs on behalf of
the Enter and Faculty and/or School.
Key selection criteria
Applicants must demonstrate they are able to undertake the inherent responsibilities of the position
as contained in the position description and are able to meet the following Key Selection Criteria:
1.
