During Orientation check-in, the
following will be available:
- Luggage check
- Major change assistance
- Parking &dining signup
- Campus & residence hall tours
- Financial aid consultations
- Beverages
This is a required meeting for veteran
or active duty U.S. Military members
or their dependents who plan to
utilize military benefits. Learn about
resources and opportunities, see the
Office of Military Student Services,
and hear about the steps you need to
take in order to obtain your benefits.
Join us in the ballroom for the official
start of NSO! You’ll be welcomed by
the Student Government Association
President and Director of New
Student Programs. We will review the
schedule and introduce the NSO Staff
who will get you excited about being
a Ram!
The Division of Student Affairs will
lead an interactive session to help
you meet your fellow Rams. They will
also inform you about DSA resources
available to help you succeed during
your time at VCU and programs and
opportunities that you can be
involved in as a student.
Students will be divided into small
groups and will meet their
Orientation Leader (OL) and O-Team
members! Your O-Team is listed on
your nametag. After getting to know
your O-Team, you will have lunch
together at Shafer. Your meal ticket
is in your lanyard.

This is your chance to ask all those
burning questions. Representatives
from various offices, departments and
student organizations will give you
some VCU freebies and answer your
questions. Pick up your VCUCard if
you submitted your photo early!
We want you to love your college
experience…but not so much that you
stay forever! In this session, you’ll
learn about some of our academic
expectations and start mapping out
your graduation plan.
In this session, a VCU Police Officer
will tell you about the multiple safety
programs on campus. The emergency
phone system will be discussed as
well as VCU’s Emergency Alert
System.
VCU Residential Life and Housing will
tell you all you need to know about
living on campus including policies,
how to get involved in your hall, and
what to expect for Move-In Weekend.
Off-campus housing options will also
be discussed for commuting students.
This is the moment that you officially
become a Ram! Students and guests
will participate in their very first VCU
tradition and then part ways for the
rest of the evening’s activities. Get
your phone ready for a selfie!

this show featuring the OLs. Don’t
forget to cheer your OL on!
Grab your luggage, pick a roomie, and
head to Brandt Hall to check out your
room for the night! You’ll have a
chance to change clothes before you
head out to RAMble!
This session will introduce you to your
rights and responsibilities as a new
member of the VCU community.
You’ll hear about VCU’s distinguished
Common Book Program, learn about
our Code of Conduct and Title IX
policies, and find out what it means to
be a VCU Ram.
Enjoy another meal and some quality
time with your O-Team! Start thinking
about who will be your roomie
tonight and make sure to sit next to
him or her at the O-Show.

Fun awaits you at Cary Street Gym
and the Commons! Rock wall?
Swimming? Dodgeball tourney? A
game of cards? It’s time to have some
fun with your fellow Rams.
Meet your Residential OL who will
walk you through what to do as a
resident for the night and will help
you meet students who have
common interests! Floor mixers will
be held for students interested in
the following areas:

Shafer Court. Enjoy breakfast and reconnect
with your O-Team. This is where you’ll meet
your family if they plan to have breakfast.
It’s time to get started in your academic career
at VCU! Come and meet representatives from
your school or college who will guide you
through some academic decision making.

After students have registered for classes, the
Orientation program is officially over. Students
are encouraged to take care of any university
business, check out the Barnes & Noble @ VCU
Bookstore and Ram Tech, or explore the city!
