Exhibitor's Pledge for District and State Horse Events Exhibitors must conduct themselves in a courteous and responsible manner during the district and state horse activities. They are under the supervision of all Extension Service personnel and other adults assisting with the events. A code of conduct and safety rules intended to provide a good and safe environment for exhibitors to show their horses and enjoy the show are listed below. Exhibitors who violate the rules of conduct or safety will be disciplined according to the offense. CODE OF CONDUCT SAFETY RULES 1. Exhibitors must read and abide by all of the rules in the show catalog. 1. Proper equipment should be used on the horse and rider at all times, including saddle, bridles, boots, pants and helmets in required events. Exhibitors must maintain control of their horses at all times. 2. Exhibitors should follow the directions of the show officials at all times. 3. In the event of problems, exhibitors should follow proper procedures in filing their complaints with show management. 4. At no time shall exhibitors or parents show disrespect for agents, ag teachers, leaders or show personnel. 5. Disruptive or abusive behavior is prohibited. 6. Misuse or abuse of personal property or facilities is prohibited. 7. Gambling, profanity and possession or use of illegal drugs or alcohol is prohibited. 8. Abuse or misuse of a horse or any other animal on the show grounds is strictly prohibited. 9. Possession of weapons or firearms, physical assault or sexual misconduct is prohibited. 2. Dogs, bicycles and other potential dangerous items are prohibited from the show grounds. 3. Show equipment, electric fans, extension cords and other dangerous items must be out of the reach of horses at all times. 4. Exhibitors must be extremely careful in areas of congestion such as alleyways and warm-up arenas. To avoid dangerous situations, always follow directions of show personnel and observe others around you. 5. Exhibitors are strictly prohibited from riding faster than a walk on any paved or concrete area. 6. Riding bareback, double or with halter only is prohibited. 7. Always assume other horses and exhibitors are dangerous, and approach them with caution. If a 4-H'er violates the code of conduct or safety rules, he will be disqualified or disciplined based on the seriousness of the offense. Show management shall have complete authority regarding these rules. I agree to abide by the show rules, code of conduct and safety rules at the district and state 4-H/FFA horse shows.
