Dear Brother Alumnus, It is with great satisfaction that the brothers of the Beta Xi chapter of Theta Chi fraternity announce another successful academic year of growth, philanthropy, and accomplishment. In November, the chapter initiated 19 new members who have shown that they respect and embody the ideals of our brotherhood. This was the largest pledge class on the row and now accounts for nearly half of our current chapter of 48 brothers. In addition, spring rush was successful, and we initiated our three newest members last week. In keeping with the spirit of an assisting hand, we actively involved ourselves in many of the on campus philanthropy efforts including Homecoming events, the Mr. Hilltopper pageant, and Chi-O Kickoff. Our Theroposa philanthropy party was a hit, raising over $2200 in donations, which will all be going to the Cornerstone Academy of Birmingham. The results of Greek Week are in, with the Theta Chi/Pi Beta Phi team taking first place, thanks in part to your participation in raising funds for Battle of the Greeks. This year we have made a strong commitment to establishing ourselves as an active presence on campus. We are pleased to inform you that our very own Denzel Okinedo was elected to serve as SGA president for this upcoming year, and that Brother Toby White will be joining him on Exec Board as treasurer. In addition, four brothers will be serving on SGA as representatives, two on the Quest II Student Programming Board, three on Interfraternity Council, and two on the Honor Council - with Brother Andy Crowder serving as vice president of the council. The past couple of weeks saw last year’s president, Ross Furio awarded Greek organization president of the year and Brothers Austin Culver and Denzel Okinedo awarded Senior and Junior of the year, respectively. Additionally, Brother Gates Gentry will be serving as president of the ’Southern Ambassadors student recruitment team. As we strive to continue these patterns of improvement moving forward through this coming year under the leadership of our new president, John Pearce, I hope that you will consider lending an assisting hand to the chapter either by guidance – we’d love to have you come talk to us about your respective fields of work – or by donation (much thanks to Brother Alumnus Chris Luketic for the couches). Finally, in an effort to better connect you with one another as Alumni, I ask that if there is something noteworthy you’d like to share with your contemporaries, feel free to contact me so that I may include it in the next newsletter.
