We have been working hard to make sure you all thoroughly enjoy this event, make new friends, and gain knowledge and experience of the Beef Cattle Industry. Please read the Conditions of Entry carefully. They apply to all sections. The23rd National All Breeds Junior Heifer Show will be held in DUBBO, New South Wales from 4th, 5th & 6th September 2015 All Entry Fees must accompany Entry Forms. Entries forwarded without fees will not be accepted. Details should be printed clearly. Separate entry forms must be submitted for each competitor. If you require extra Entry Forms, please photocopy original blank form or contact Sue Powe on 0412462720 for additional copies. The National Livestock Identification System (NLIS), Australia’s scheme for the identification and tracing of livestock, has been introduced in NSW. From July 1st 2005, all cattle must be identified with an NLIS device before they leave any property for any reason. Exhibitors are required to provide their Property Identification Code (PIC) on their Application for Entry. NLIS Tags must be attached and displayed on cattle at all times. Scanning will be undertaken on the Showground. NO EXCEPTIONS. Showground PIC Number NJ224985 We encourage all competitors to stay on the ground with camping facilities provided for handlers with supervision, however we encourage and appreciate that parents stay with their children for the duration of the show. Handlers are reminded to bring all their own sleeping/swag and bathroom gear. Schools camping must be supervised by Teacher/Parent. The National All Breeds Junior Heifer Show requests that parents able to help fill in the section on Entry Form. In particular we invite parents to attend the dinner on the Saturday night. A curfew will be enforced this year with those camping – committee, with the help of supervising parents will be establishing this and monitoring competitor’s co-operation. Help and participation from parents and guardians would be greatly appreciated and required for the continuation of this event. If competitors are camping / staying with parents or guardians the National All Breeds committee will cease their supervisory role at the conclusion of the days events and responsibility will then be that of parents/guardians. HEIFER SHOW FACT FILE National All Breeds Junior Heifer Show will be held at the Dubbo Showgrounds on the 4th, 5th & 6th September 2015 Heifers, Bulls and Steers/Heifers will be judged on an Interbreed basis and divided into classes upon receipt of entries. T-Shirts will be supplied to all entrants so T-Shirt size must be nominated on Entry Form. The committee does not take responsibility for wrong shirt sizes. Please choose carefully. Entries received on a Handler per Heifer basis will cost $120.00. This entry fee includes: $60 per animal (Showground Charge) $40 – BBQ and Dinner Ticket $20– Insurance Also included are camping fees for the duration of the show. Any additional Heifer will incur an extra $60 and any additional handler will incur an additional $60 cost. Entry to the Heifer Jackpot classes will incur an additional cost of $40 per animal. Any entry forms received after closing date (10th August 2015) will incur a late fee of $20. Parents are encouraged to be present for the duration of the show. We need parent’s assistance for this event to continue. No facilities will be provided for calf mothers or recipients. Canteen facilities will be available for the duration of the Heifer Show with costs kept at a minimum. All funds from this come back to this committee therefore we ask for your support for all meals. HEIFER SHOW CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 1 Entrants to be between five (5) years and under twenty-five (25) years inclusive as at the first day of September 2015. 2 Handlers’ ages as of the 1st September 2014. PEE WEE – 5 and under 10 years JUNIOR – 10 and under 14 years INTERMEDIATE – 14 and under 18 years SENIOR – 18 and under 25 years (Any section may be split into two divisions depending on the number of entries receive, or put up a age group) 3 Handlers are not required to be a financial member of any Breed Society. 4 Each handler may exhibit a maximum of two (2) animals. 5 Heifers and Bulls must be registered with their relevant Breed Society and must be exhibited by the Owner or Owners Nominee as stated on the Entry Form. Commercial Steer or Heifer Class can be of Purebred or Crossbred breeding and do not need to be registered. 6 Owners may have two handlers permitted per animal for the herdsman judging. In the case of school entries it is permitted to have up to three (3) handlers per heifer for the judging of the Herdsman Competition. In parader classes the one heifer may be paraded by different handlers in the four age divisions. The Committee will allocate heifers to handlers who do not have a nominated heifer. 7 Either a Breed Certificate or Statutory Declaration must accompany all Heifer and Bull Entry Forms from the relevant Breed Society. 8 Age of heifers shall be 6 months and Under 24 months as at the first day of the show. This means heifers must be aged between the 2nd September 2013 and the 2nd March 2015 AND SHALL NOT HAVE CALVED. 9 Bulls must be over 6 months of age and under 18 months of age as of the first day of the show. This means bulls must be born between the 1st March 2014 and 1st March 2015. 10 All exhibits must have an acceptable temperament and be broken to lead. 11 All Bulls MUST BE EXHIBITED by competitors aged sixteen (16) and under twenty-five (25) years. 12 USE OF NOSE RINGS, NOSE CLIPS AND NECK STRAPS IS COMPULSORY. 13 Exhibitors to provide their own equipment and feed. NO PRESSURE WASHERS ALLOWED. 14 Inspectors nominated by the committee will be responsible for inspection of all animals’ tattoos and/or firebrands prior to judging. If incorrect, absent or illegible the animal will be disqualified from that class (The animal will still be eligible for handlers classes). 15 NLIS Tags are compulsory, as per NLIS NSW State regulations. The NLIS tags are to be displayed in the animals ears at all times. All animals will be scanned and reported of the stock movement to and from venue – Showground PIC NJ224985 16 Any animal that is infected with ringworm must have a veterinary certificate stating that the animal has been treated or washed in the previous four (4) days with appropriate fungicide. Further washings are to be carried out on the showground under the supervision of a committee member. 17 Sawdust bedding will be provided. 18 Entrants under the age of ten (10) may be accompanied during led classes if required. 19 Non-participants are not permitted to take part in the preparation of animals after registration. Any breach of this condition can lead to the handlers’ disqualification from Herdsman Competition or the animal’s disqualification from judging. This includes parents for competitors over 10yrs. IF ASSISTANCE IS REQUIRED PLEASE NOTIFY A COMMITTEE MEMBER. 20 Substitution and/or refund of either heifer or handler will only be permitted if the Committee is notified in writing 7 days prior to the show at the discretion of the Executive Committee. 21 ALL ENTRIES TO BE ACCOMPANIED BY THE ENCLOSED HEALTH DECLARATION, AND MUST BE DERIVED FROM A BRUCELLOSIS, TUBERCULLOSIS AND JOHNES FREE HERD. ALL ANIMALS MUST PROVIDE A COPY OF PESTIVIRUS RESULTS. 22 Disruptive and unacceptable behaviour from competitors will not be tolerated. Unacceptable behaviour will lead to disqualification from the competition, (eg swearing). 23 No UNDER AGE drinking will be tolerated. Competitors not abiding to this will face immediate disqualifications. Alcohol may only be consumed in designated area and at designated times as outlined at commencement of show by the committee. 24 There will be no smoking in the cattle sheds, toilets, eating or sleeping areas. 25 Boots must be worn at all times. Thongs, boat shoes and sneakers are unacceptable. 26 T-shirts will be supplied to all competitors whose entries are received by the 1ST August 2015 and are to be worn during the animal judging competition on the second day. 27 Animal Insurance is the owner’s responsibility. It is strongly recommended that livestock owners are covered by a current liability policy that extends to shows. PLEASE PROVIDE A POLICY NUMBER. 28 The Committee will supply shed cards. 29 No individual stud signs, stud curtains or ends will be permitted in the cattle sheds for individual exhibits but stall ends are allowed as part of the Breed and School Competitions. Breed displays are required for the breed competition. Schools are permitted and required to display school signs, curtains in the school competition. Each will receive an allocated display area. 30 ALL EXHIBITORS ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT MUST HAVE AN IN-LINE CIRCUIT BREAKER AND ALL POWER LEADS MUST HAVE A CURRENT CERTIFICATE FROM A REGISTERED ELECTRICIAN AS REQUIRED BY LAW. INSPECTIONS WILL BE CARRIED OUT. 31 No dogs allowed in the vicinity of the cattle shed, parading, tie ups and washing areas. Dogs must be tethered at all times. 32 The Herdsman Competition is judged over the three days. Aspects taken into account by roaming judges will include participation, teamwork, citizenship, presentation and animal care. To score well in this competition, senior competitors will need to assist their ‘buddy’. 33 Competitors are not to leave Showground without parental supervision and must have prior permission from the Executive Committee until the conclusion of the Heifer Show. 34 While everything is done to ensure the safety of participants and their animals and every care will be taken by those in charge of the National All Breed Junior Heifer Show, the Committee is not responsible for any accident or sickness that may occur through any source whatsoever. It must be clearly understood that each participant will only be permitted to attend the Heifer Show on the understanding that the parent/guardian signing a consent form agrees to indemnify the committee against any claim. 35 PESTIVIRUS: ALL ANIMALS ARE TO BE PESTIVIRUS TESTED AND COPIES OF LAB RESULT ARE TO BE INCLUDED WITH YOUR ENTRY FORMS. HERDSMAN COMPETITION A Herdsman Competition will be conducted for the duration of the 2015 National All Breeds Junior Heifer Show at Dubbo Showground. The competition will be judged by roaming judges from 9.00 am Friday to 12.00 pm on Sunday and is open to all competitors of the Heifer Show. All participants will be judged on overall performance. This will include: Tidiness of Stalls and Equipment, Condition of Bedding and Feed, Personal Appearance, Grooming and general care of Animal, Showing Ability and General Knowledge of the Beef Industry. Teamwork Team Games Competitors will be placed into teams and we will have a fun evening playing some games and getting to know your fellow competitors. LED COMMERCIAL STEER/HEIFER COMPETITION (HOOF ONLY) - CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 1 2 3 4 5 All Conditions of Entry of the National All Breeds Junior Heifer Show where relevant are applicable to the entry of steers/heifers in this competition. CHAMPION BREED COMPETITION We will be allocating a specific space for each breed to have their own display and along with this the breed is judged on how the competitors work as a team – how they can promote their breed and how they present the animals. COMMERCIAL BREEDING HEIFER 2015 sees the continuation of a commercial breeding heifer class, where entries will be judged as replacement prospects to be retained for future breeding. The females can be comprised of any breed, with the origin of the animal to be submitted on the entry form. Conditions of entry 1. Multi breed registered animals are permitted to compete. 5. Publicised composite breeds e.g. Lim-Flex, Sim Angus and Gelbvieh Balancers are permitted to compete. 6. Commercial breeding heifer classes will be decided on the number of entries. 7. CHAMPION SCHOOL COMPETITION We invite schools to participate as a group with their team of cattle stalled together allowing you to create a school display. This display along with competitor’s participation in all events will be judged to come up with the “Champion School”. CHAMPION GROOM COMPETITION We are looking for and giving competitors, who nominate for this competition, the chance to experience and undertake the preparation of their animal for the show. This is a separate competition from the herdsman competition Competitors have to nominate for this competition. Competitors need to bring their animal to the show broken to lead but not prepared in any other way – all competitors are given time to wash – dry – clip – groom their animal and will be judged on all aspects leading up to and including the presentation of the animal on show day.
