Campus Recreation Services is seeking part-time Fitness Interns to work with the Fitness
Coordinator to assist with all fitness and wellness programs.
Job Description:
- Implement fitness programs including group exercise, personal training, massage therapy
and fitness & wellness special events.
- Assist in teaching training courses for group exercise: PES 100- Group F.I.T. and/or PES
100 Group F.I.T. Mind Body.
- Assist in teaching training course for personal training: HS 299- Personal Trainer (ACE
F.I.T.).
- Assist in hiring, training, supervising and evaluating all fitness and wellness staff.
- Organize and manage fitness and wellness special events.
- Coordinate Freshman Fusion team and work Freshman Fusion events.
- Instruct Physical Education Services (PES) courses, Group Exercise courses, and/or
Small Group sessions each academic semester.
- Develop Group Exercise class schedules to meet current trends and the diverse interests
of students and campus community.
- Coordinate and execute fitness sponsorship programs.
- Cross-collaborate with other Campus Recreation Services departments as well as various
university departments.
- Contribute to department’s marketing efforts with health and fitness tips, upcoming
events, updated schedules, etc.

- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, projects and assignments within an appropriate
timeline.

- Must enjoy fitness and wellness, motivating, and communicating with people.

backgrounds and demonstrate sensitivity to multicultural issues.

Minimum Qualifications:
Intern:
- Completion of fitness training courses (Group F.I.T, Group F.I.T. Mind Body, and/or ACE
F.I.T., and/or Fitness Wellness Courses).
- Primary Group Exercise and/or Personal Trainer and/or specialized certification(s).
- Pending bachelor’s degree in exercise science or other related field.
- Minimum of two academic semesters teaching Group Fitness classes and/or Personal Training.
- Must be a currently enrolled NAU student.
- Basic Adult CPR/AED certification (can be obtained once hired).
- Preferred: one academic semester of Campus Recreation Services department experience.
Senior Intern:
- Completion of fitness training courses (Group F.I.T, Group F.I.T. Mind Body, and/or ACE
F.I.T. and/or Fitness Wellness Courses).
- Primary Group Exercise and/or Personal Trainer and/or specialized certification(s).
- Pending bachelor’s degree in exercise science or other related field.
- Minimum of four academic semesters teaching Group Fitness classes and/or Personal Training.
- Professional Rescuer Adult CPR/AED certification (can be obtained once hired).
- Preferred: two academic semesters of Campus Recreation Services department experience and
bachelor’s degree in recreation, nutrition and fitness, exercise sciences or related field.
Payment Stipend:
Intern: $2,400.00 per academic semester.
Senior Intern: $5,400.00 per academic semester.
