iMedia - Year 9 Pathway Overview of Subject Cambridge Nationals in Creative iMedia is a media sector-focused course, including film, television, web development, gaming and animation with IT at the forefront. The course provides knowledge in a number of key areas in this field from pre-production skills to digital animation and has a motivating hands-on approach. Cambridge Nationals deliver skills across the whole range of learning styles and abilities, effectively engaging and inspiring all students to achieve great things. Overview of Pathways available in Subject Cambridge Nationals in Creative iMedia qualifications Award Certificate (120 glh requiring four units) allows students to progress to a more advanced studies and Creative iMedia-related careers. OCR Level 1/2 Cambridge National Certificate in Creative iMedia requires 120 GLH in total. Year 9 In year 9 students will study the mandatory units as they will begin to understand the fundamental skills that is needed for ICT and Media. Students will be given a practice assignment to complete throughout the year, making sure that each learning objective has been carried out. They will also sit an exam at the end of the academic year to check their progression throughout the course. Year 10 In year 10 students will be completing two out of their three coursework tasks. They will firstly complete their R082 mandatory task - Creating digital graphics. They will then complete one of the optional units (R084/85/90). This will go towards their final grade. Students will sit an end of year exam in the academic year to check their progression throughout the course. Year 11 In year 11 students will complete their last piece of coursework from the optional units (R084/85/90). They will then complete the final mandatory unit R081 through a preproduction skills – Written paper OCR set and marked 1 hour 15 min. Future Pathways Studying iMedia will open up many opportunities into the creative and innovative sector.
