Box 516 Oxford, NS B0M-1P0 (902) 447-3285 Fax:(902) 447-3100 Class 1- Bull calf born in the current year. Minimum of three months of age on judging day. Class 2- Yearling bull, born in the previous year. Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Male (Ribbon Only) Class 3- Heifer calf born in the current year. Calf is eligible to be shown for champion and must be a minimum of three months of age on show day. Class 4- Yearling heifer, born in the previous year. Junior Grand and Junior Reserve Grand Champion Female (Ribbons only) Class 5- Female born January 1st, 2010- December 31st, 2010, with her own 2011 natural, purebred, tattooed calf at foot, to be shown as a unit. Calf is eligible to be shown as a single animal in classes 1, 3, 7 & 8. Calves 6 months of age and older must be registered. Class 6- Female, born prior to January 1st, 2010, with her own natural 2011 purebred calf at foot. Cow and calf shall be shown as a unit. Class 7- Breeders Herd- A group of four animals bred by one breeder, both sexes represented, must have been shown in previous classes. At least one animal must be owned by the exhibitor. (Ribbon only) Class 8- Get of Sire- A group of three animals from the same sire, both sexes represented, at least one animal must be owned by one exhibitor and animals must have been shown in previous classes. Cumberland County Exhibition Beef Cattle General Rules ~All stock to be shown must be properly entered on forms provided. ~ All beef entries must be on the grounds by Thursday, September 1st, 2011 @ 9:00am. Beef entries are to remain on the grounds until Saturday, September 3rd, 2011 until 10:00 pm. ~Entries can arrive on Wednesday evening on August 31st, 2011. ~ Exhibitor’s will be entitled to passes based upon the following: 1 to 4 head- free pass and may purchase one at $8.00 5 to 8 - 2 free passes and may purchase two at $8.00 8 and over - 3 free passes and may purchase three at $8.00 ~ Entry fees of $7.00 per animal will go towards the judge, ribbons etc. Beef Show will be held on Friday, September 2nd, 2011 at 11:00 am. Each animal shown in an individual class (requiring an entry fee) will receive a prize award of $30.00. If more than 50 head are exhibited at the show this amount may be lowered slightly so that every animal receives an award of equal value. Maritime Hereford Futurity Class Major Sponsor MIP Show Supplies Special Cattle Awards: Premier Exhibitor Award Sponsored by the Nova Scotia Hereford Club Premier Breeder Sponsored by the Gordon Coulter Memorial Award Presented by: Paul and Mary Dewar Champion Hereford Male Sponsored by the Fred Otter Memorial Award Rules: 1~ Open to anyone who owns a purebred hereford female in the Maritimes. 2~Age of animal; Senior yearling born January 1st to March 31st of the year prior to the show. 3~Registration: animal must be registered to the exhibitor making the entry. 4~ Any exhibitor can nominate and show as many entries as they wish. 5~No substitutions or additions may be made after the initial entry has been made. 6~ Animals will be on display at the Cumberland County Exhibition and must be on the grounds and leave the grounds under the same rules as the open cattle show, which is from Thursday, September 1st, 2011 @ 9:00am until September 3rd, 2011 @ 10:00pm. Efforts will be made to allow exhibitors traveling long distances to load first and be away a little earlier. 7~The futurity will be held on Thursday, September 1st, 2011 at 4:30pm. Futurity Prize Money Prize money is made up by a donation from the major sponsor MIP Show Supplies, Marvin Peters owner from Kensington, PEI , and entry fees paid by the exhibitors. Actual prize money paid is based on the total money available in the prize purse. Any entry in the futurity class can be entered in the open hereford senior yearling class of the Exhibition, and this must be done separately. Should any conflict arise, the decision of the futurity committee is final.
