The Academic Service-Learning Faculty Fellows Program The Hub is offering at least 6 ASL Faculty Fellowships for the Academic Year 2015-2016. During the Fellows Program, faculty members engage in readings and discussions about methods to implement ASL in their courses. The Hub provides assistance and additional resources that the Fellows might need both throughout the development program as well as during the teaching of the respective courses regarding course design, community partnering, and reflection exercises. Purpose Faculty members receive a $1000 stipend for participating in the Fellows program. Fellows meet monthly, 7 times during the academic year, to share and reflect on teaching experiences and to develop knowledge of ASL pedagogy. By the end of the program, Fellows will create or revise a syllabus for an ASL course to be taught AY 2015-2016. An additional $500 stipend will be provided if the course meets ASL Designation criteria: http://www.umd.umich.edu/aslcourses. If a course meets the ASL Designation criteria, the faculty member is also entitled to apply for: 1) course activity funds; 2) a Student Fellow to provide course assistance; as well as 3) a research support grant.
