PAGEANT RULES AND EXPECTATIONS FOR TINY AND LITTLE MISS AUBURNDALE
“Once Upon A Time”
Saturday, March 21, 2015
1.
REGISTRATION : Application must be received by January 31, 2015
2.
APPLICATION: Applications may be mailed to: The Auburndale Chamber of Commerce – 245 East Lake Avenue
– Auburndale, Fl 33823, or dropped off at said address.
3.
PAGEANT DATE: Saturday, March 21, 2015.
4.
APPLICATION ACCEPTANCE: All applications must have:
1. Contestants must live in Polk County, Florida
3. Pageant fee of $50.00
4. A contestant photo (headshot only – black and white – 4x6). Print your name and category on the back of your
photo – This will be due by January 31, 2015.
5.
AGE CATEGORIES:
TINY MISS:
Contestants must be between the ages of 4 – 7 years of age.to compete in this category by March 21, 2015.
LITTLE MISS:
Contestants must be between the ages of 8 – 11 years of age to compete in this category by March 21, 2015.

WHAT WILL WE BE JUDGED ON?
TINY MISS: Interview, Stage Presence, Formal Wear (See Item 10)
LITTLE MISS: Interview, Costume Competition, Stage Presence, Formal Wear (See Item 10)
7.
INTERVIEW:
The interview competition will be held on SATURDAY, MARCH 14, 2015 at the Auburndale Chamber of Commerce
located at 245 E Lake Avenue, Auburndale. You will be given an appointment time for your interview. Three
independent judges (who will not be judging on the night of the pageant) will conduct the interview.
Contestants should wear a party dress or church dress for their interview competition.
Contestants may choose to wear LIGHT makeup. While this is left up to the parent’s discretion, remember, contestants
will be judged as little girls.
Contestants may not have a parent accompany them during the interview. A pageant official will be with them at all
times.
8.
REHEARSALS:
Currently, rehearsal will be FRIDAY, March 20th at the Auburndale Civic Center. All contestants must attend designated
rehearsals.
ALL rehearsals are CLOSED to anyone NOT participating in the pageant.
Bring all props that you will be using.
9.
COSTUME COMPETITION – LITTLE MISS ONLY:
Costumes are assigned on a FIRST COME-FIRST SERVE. Only one character will be allowed (one Cinderella, one Beauty
& The Beast, etc.)
The theme for this year’s pageant is “Once Upon A Time”. This is a fairytale theme. Contestants are encouraged to
choose a fairy tale to portray in the Costume Competition. This will be a really fun and exciting competition.
Contestants will be allowed to use props; however, all contestants will be allowed NO MORE than 3 minutes to get their
props on and off the stage. By the time the MC announces your child and their costume, all props need to be in place on
stage. In the event that props are not in place or removed in the appropriate amount of time, THREE points will be
deducted from that contestant’s final score. (REMEMBER, there is usually a 1-2 point difference in the top three scores).
TWO PEOPLE MAY ASSIST IN GETTING PROPS ON AND OFF THE STAGE. You may use people as props and you may also
use the same props as other contestants. (Example: Castle, Fairy Godmother, trees).
** MUST BRING COSTUME TO YOUR INTERVIEW APPOINTMENT ON SATURDAY, MARCH 14, 2015 FOR APPROVAL. BY
NOT BRINGING YOUR COSTUME FOR APPROVAL, THREE POINTS WILL BE DEDUCTED FROM YOUR FINAL SCORE.
(REMEMBER, there is usually a 1-2 point difference in the top three scores).
Examples: Snow White, Frozen Characters, Cinderella, Beauty & The Beast.
10.
FORMAL WEAR:
Tiny Miss: Must wear SHORT dresses. (Knee Length). See examples attached hereto. While this is not a full glitz
pageant, formal dress is encouraged (dressy party or pageant attire). We have included websites on the Example Page.
Little Miss: May wear LONG or “T-Length” dresses. See examples attached hereto. While this is not a full glitz pageant,
formal dress is encouraged. We have included websites on the Example Page.
An escort of your choice (father, stepfather, guardian, mother, grandfather, etc.) will escort you to center stage and off
stage.

BY NOT BRINGING YOUR COSTUME FOR APPROVAL, THREE POINTS WILL BE DEDUCTED FOR YOUR FINAL SCORE.

Our judges will be judging on personality, stage presence, self-confidence, first impression, and overall appearance for
Formal Wear. We do not judge on facial beauty. We believe every contestant is beautiful and we want to see the girls
just have fun. Even though we tell our judges what our pageant system judges on, judges all have opinions and you are
being judged on their opinion only.
Each contestant – during the formal wear competition – will introduce herself:
Hello, my name is ______, I am _____ years old and attend ___________ school.
WORK WITH YOUR CHILD ON THIS!
** MUST BRING FORMAL WEAR TO YOUR INTERVIEW APPOINTMENT ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 24, 2015 FOR
APPROVAL.
11.
MAKE-UP/WIGS/FLIPPERS/SPRAY TANS:
Contestants will be judged as little girls. LIGHT makeup is necessary when under harsh, bright lights, and we encourage
(powder, minimal blush, mascara, lip gloss). Heavy makeup, spray tans, fake nails, hairpieces, wiglets and flippers ARE
NOT ALLOWED.
12.
JUDGES:
INTERVIEW COMPETITION: Judges may range from local celebrity’s to community leaders.
PAGEANT NIGHT: All judges will be from out of town (NO ONE FROM AUBURNDALE).
Contestants, parents or anyone associated with a contestant is strictly prohibited with making any contact whatsoever
with any judge BEFORE, DURING or AFTER the pageant. By doing so, will result in the contestants disqualification from
the pageant. Contestant scores will be mailed to you with any comments 2-3 weeks after the pageant.
13.
PAGEANT NIGHT:
TINY MISS: All contestants will be assigned ONE seat to STAGE LEFT. A pageant representative will be with them at all
times. After the formal wear competition, please have your child sit with you in the audience. They will be brought back
up at the end of the pageant for participation trophy’s and crowning.
LITTLE MISS: NO ONE will be allowed backstage (STAGE RIGHT) on the pageant night other than pageant officials, and
contestants, and the ONE person approved by the committee to assist the contestant with costume and formal wear
changes.
NO FLOWERS MAY BE DELIVERED BACKSTAGE BEFORE, DURING OR AFTER THE PAGEANT. NO FOOD OR DRINKS (Except
water) WILL BE ALLOWED BACKSTAGE.
14.
PROGRAM ADS: All contestants will be required to sell at least four (4) business card size ads. Contestants may
choose to sell more. The contestant selling the most ads will receive a cash prize that will be awarded to her during the
pageant. Write contestants name and category (Tiny or Little) on the back of any ad.
Business Card Ad: $25.00
¼ Page Ad: $50.00
½ Page Ad: $75.00
Full Page Ad: $100.00
PROGRAM ADS WILL BE DUE ON SATURDAY MARCH 14, 2015. Ads will not be accepted after that date.
15.
TICKETS:
Tickets will be available at the Chamber of Commerce office beginning March 2, 2015. Tickets are $10.00 per ticket. All
parents will need a ticket. Seats will be on a first come-first serve. Doors will open one hour prior to the pageant.
Please be courteous and refrain from saving seats.
16.
OTHER:
Any contestant, parent, family member or guest showing unsportsmanlike behavior will be disqualified.
Contestants may never have been convicted of a criminal offense.
The Auburndale Pageant holds the right to disqualify any contestant if necessary. This can be a fun event for everyone
and can be a learning experience. The Auburndale Pageant will not tolerate any questionable behavior, false
accusations about other contestants or cheating of any sorts. There will be “secret judges” and they will be reporting
directly to the pageant officials if they see anything questionable. BE ALERT!
Contestants must be of good moral conduct.
All decisions of the judges are final.
Contestants and their parents/guardians agree to hold harmless the Auburndale Chamber of Commerce and its
representative (including pageant officials and committee) affiliated with The Auburndale Pageant, in case of any loss or
injury occurring during the entire pageant and preparation for the pageant.
Should there be any problem of any kind during the pageant or related events, the contestant is to go to one of the
pageant directors or committee members. Any unruly, unsportsmanlike or unbecoming conduct by a contestant or any
member of her entourage, or any disregard for the rules of this pageant will result in immediate dismissal from the
pageant without refund. Depending on the severity of the action or behavior, may result in permanent disqualification
from any Auburndale Pageant.
17.
POINT DEDUCTION – THREE (3) POINTS EACH
Not removing props from the stage in designated amount of time.
Not attending practices
Not attending the mandatory practice on Friday, March 20, 2015
Not bringing your costume to your interview appointment on March 14, 2015 for approval.
Not bringing your formal wear to your interview appointment on March 14, 2015 for approval.
Not selling your four (4) ads.
18.
DUTIES OF THE ELECTED TINY/LITTLE MISS AUBURNDALE:
She will represent the Auburndale community at many functions including Chamber events, Easter Eggstravaganza,
Havendale Christmas Parade and other essential events.
She must be a young lady of high morals and exhibit superb ethical character.
At all events, she must wear her crown, sash and a church dress or party dress. No shorts, jeans, t-shirts unless noted
before the event.
Must strive to be an excellent role model.
She will pledge not to partake of alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs or smoke during her reign as an Auburndale Pageant
representative. ALL profanity is PROHIBITED.
If the newly elected Auburndale representative cannot fulfill all of the expressed duties, or if she violates any rules set
forth as a contestant, she will immediately relinquish her title, crown. The first runner-up will be eligible for the title.
