If you need help analyzing your data or if your proposed program requires additional special data analysis considerations for labor market demand, student demand, or similar program information, please contact Institutional Research & Information at http://www.uvu.edu/iri/

Labor Market Demand

Include local, state, and national data; job placement information; and the types of jobs graduates have obtained from similar programs. Indicate future impact on the program should market demand change.

Departments supplying the following CIP and SOC codes will help Institutional Research & Information (IRI) decide which codes to use when IRI generates labor market demand information. Also, the CIP code is required for the R401.

Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) Code for Proposed Program

The Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) provides a taxonomic numbering system that supports the accurate tracking and reporting of fields of study and program completions activity. Choose the code that best represents your proposed program at https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/Default.aspx?y=55

Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) Code(s) for Proposed Program

The 2010 Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) system is used by Federal statistical agencies to classify workers into occupational categories for the purpose of collecting, calculating, or disseminating data. All workers are classified into one of 840 detailed occupations according to their occupational definition. Choose the code(s) that best represent your proposed program at http://www.bls.gov/soc/

Institutional Research & Information (IRI) can run a report showing multiple SOC codes for a specific CIP code, or multiple CIP codes for a specific SOC code. In order to request this information, complete the IRI

Field Research Request at http://www.uvu.edu/iri/aboutiri/make_a_request.php

If the proposed program is already in UVU’s Gap Analysis report, please synthesize and summarize information related to the program from UVU’s Gap Analysis Report. Include as an appendix the portion of the university’s Gap Analysis Report related to the proposed program.

See IRI Program Feasibility link at www.uvu.edu/iri/feasibility

Synthesize and summarize information on employment demand for the program from the Burning Glass report. Include as an appendix Burning Glass reports on program employment demand. In order to request this information, complete the IRI Field Research Request at http://www.uvu.edu/iri/aboutiri/make_a_request.php

In addition to proposed program Gap Analysis and Burning Glass report information above, additional resources for obtaining labor market demand information can be found on the IRI Program Feasibility link at www.uvu.edu/iri/feasibility (Remove italics after completing this section of the template)
