Matters Arising From Previous Minutes:
Clearing Instruction:
This matter has been settled as a MANDATORY requirement by SARS. Agents must comply.
Acquittals:
Still a problem and Zaba is going to push agents that have outstanding to resolve urgently.
Provisional payments:
The number of PP issues are reduced and being resolved.
Delays with stops / exams
Zaba still awaiting Case Number to investigate the reason for the delays experienced. This was raised
in the previous meeting.
NEW MATTERS
Clearing Instructions
Rishi was concerned with the requirement for C/I for Ship Spares. Although no request was made as
yet, delayed release will definitely cause issues. Zaba to re-check, especially for Ship Spare.
LOA – Export
Riaz experienced delays with the request for a LOA for branded goods. Depending on the export
quantity a LOA will be required. Zaba to check and advice regarding future exports and to advise in
writing so exporters/agents is aware of the requirement.
Customs Stop – Passenger Terminal
Siva experienced delays in this type of shipment when stopped. Zaba advised that the instructions
has to be followed to minimise delays.
Address on Supplier’s Invoice
Riaz requested clarity regarding the consignees address on the suppliers invoice although he does
understand that the Bill of Entry has to have the correct physical address as SARS have on their
database. Zaba to check and advise.
OGA Stops
The status 4 stops shows an error – Entry is rejected on the second page of the SARS Notification.
Zaba will check as it could be a system error.
Finalizing of Stops
Delays are being experienced by agents when shipments are stopped and examined. The finalisation
of these stops are taking too long. Zaba to check with Albany House.
