Standing Workshops Monday: Metric Mondays Tuesday: Technique Tuesdays Wednesday: Working with Curriculum Maps Wednesdays Thursday: Rubric Thursdays Friday: Electronic Form Fridays Metric Mondays This day focuses on identifying appropriate metrics for assessment. The workshop covers best practices in using various assessment tools. Workshop attendees will explore various statistical/computational procedures that are used to summarize and explain specific outcomes assessment data. This workshop will discuss various parametric and nonparametric techniques such as chi-square, and how these and measures of central tendency, and proportion are used to explain student performance. The workshop illustrates which classroom assessment techniques are appropriate for capturing different types of information. Techniques such as the minute paper, polling story maps will be discussed. Small roundtables and hands-on activities comprise a significant portion of this workshop. Learning Outcomes Upon completing this workshop, attendees will be able to: 1. Identify the appropriate classroom assessment technique to use to capture data for specific learning outcomes 2. Develop a classroom assessment tool using one of the classroom assessment techniques discussed in the workshop Working with Curriculum Maps Wednesdays This day focuses on curriculum mapping. The workshop covers various types of curriculum maps and how to link blooms taxonomy with competency proficiency. Attendees will explore ways of mapping classroom expected competencies and capture proficiency in that competency across the curriculum. Small roundtables and hands-on activities comprise a significant portion of this workshop. Learning Outcomes Upon completing this workshop, attendees will be able to: 1. Differentiate a general program curriculum map from a proficiency curriculum map 2. explain the relationship between Bloom’s taxonomy action verbs and proficiency level 3. Develop a proficiency based program curriculum map Rubric Thursdays This day focuses on scoring rubrics. The workshop will discuss the fundamentals of rubric development, how to create a scoring rubric that captures single and multiple criterion, and the best practices in analyzing results. This workshop will focus on how to write behavioral benchmarks that coincide with a specific proficiency level. There will also be a focus on rubric scoring and analysis. Small roundtables and hands-on activities comprise a significant portion of this workshop. Learning Outcomes Upon completing this workshop, attendees will be able to: 1. Describe behavioral benchmarks that reflect a specific level of proficiency for class assignments. 2. Develop behavioral anchors that coincide a specific level of proficiency 3. Develop scoring rating that coincide with behavioral benchmarks 4. Develop a rubric for a class assignment 5. Analyze rubrics to explain behavioral phenomenon. Electronic Form Fridays This day focuses on Xitracs, Academic Affairs’ Assessment and accreditation compliance system. The workshop focuses on how to use Xitracs to complete outcomes assessment, update their professional profile, take or create surveys, and explore other. This workshop will be help in the computer lab for hand-on experience and practice with the system. Learning Outcomes Upon completing this workshop, attendees will be able to: 1. Explain how each Xitracs component is used to complete various tasks. 2. Access the Xitracs system using their username and password 3. Complete user specific information in Xitracs
