Expression of Interest Reuse / Recycle ART on the Civic Green– 25th October, 2014 Warrnambool City Council is calling for expressions of interest from artists who wish to create artwork based on themes of sustainability and environment. Council would like to commission an artwork from a selected artist made from litter found along Levy’s Beach. Warrnambool City Council is participating in The Garage Sale Trail (25/10/14) for the first time. It is a day when 1000’s of garage sales are held right across Australia. Garage Sale Trail is all about reuse and reducing waste. It is about considering what and how we consume but doing it in a fun and social way. Council will be holding a communal sale on the Civic Green, which is where the creation of the art will take place. The material for the artwork was collected from Levy’s Beach during Fishcare’s Beachcombing event on 13th September (see photos Appendix 1). Artists could begin the artwork prior to the 25th October and finish it off on the day, or if more time is needed complete the piece after the event. Warrnambool City Council would acquire the piece for the purpose of using it in the future for education and awareness-raising, about waste reduction and the impact of litter. Selection Process Step 1: From the completed expressions of interest Warrnambool City Council will shortlist one artist by 17th October. Step 2: The shortlisted artist will take possession of the materials already collected for the project and advise Council of the costs of any further materials required to complete the project, 17th-20th October.
