What motivates athletes?
Introduction: As a future coach you will need to keep motivation
within your athletes at a high level in order to remain competitive.
Knowing how to motivate athletes is one of the most important parts of
coaching. If motivation is not at an optimal level, your athletes will not
work hard for you. Complete a paper showing me you know the
importance of keeping athletes motivated by answering the following
questions.
Guidelines: Complete a paper that answers the following questions.
Explain in detail the importance motivation plays in being a successful
coach. Follow the rubric to help you gain the best grade that you can.
Questions:
1. When do athletes need to be motivated? Why is motivation
important in order for a player to succeed? As a team?
2. What motivates athletes to work hard? Explain each motivation in
greater detail.
3. How do athletes learn to fear failure? What does that mean for you
as a future coach in motivating your players?
4. What are different ways to enhance motivation in your players?
How can you incorporate these strategies in your coaching?
5. How can you take your own experiences in feeling intrinsically
motivated and use that in your coaching? Feeling extrinsically
motivated?
