Fall Prevention
Injuries from falling are a growing epidemic among older adults. Thirty percent of those over 65
fall annually. After 80, fifty percent fall annually. This is a major reason for hospitalization and
premature nursing home placement. What causes a person to fall? You will learn about
resources, what you can do to prevent falls and how exercises can help increase your flexibility,
strength and tolerance. Included is a pre and post evaluation of your risk for falls. Participants
with significant balance problems should be accompanied by a family member or caregiver at no
extra fee.
