Beans
Bush Tenderpod - 50 days. Thick and round pod with distinctly curved tips stay tender and string-less even when fully mature. Also good as a dried shell bean.
Early Bush Italian - 50 days. An Italian bush variety that yields early and needs no support. Plants are more erect, so it’s easy to pick. The pods remain string-less
Broccoli
Calabrese - 48 days. A favorite sprouting and cutting broccoli. Once the main head is removed, this variety will continuously produce many offshoots all season long.
De Cicco - 48 days. An Italian broccoli that is compact with blue green color. Good in both spring and fall gardens. Side shoots provide for an extended harvest.
Romanesco – 75 days. Grows exceptionally well in cool areas. Produces a stunning apple-green whorled head with excellent taste and texture. Prized in Italy.
Sorrento - 40 days. It grows 30 inches upright, quickly maturing uniform dark green florets averaging 3-4 inches across. Harvest the leaves, stems and buds.
Zamboni - 45 days. A connoisseur heirloom, 2 feet tall resembling asparagus with small turnip-like leaves and long stems with inch across flower bud clusters.
Cucumbers
Boothby's Blonde - 60 days. This attractive, small cucumber is an old heirloom variety from Maine. Expect large yields of 3-5 inch, creamy yellow cucumbers.
Homemade Pickles - 55 days. Medium green fruits with small white spines specially bred for pickling. Harvest from 1.5” to 6”. Solid and crisp with superb flavor.
Lemon - 60 days. This 3-4 feet semi-bush variety is a favorite in cool environments producing good yields of lemon colored and shaped with a mild, sweet flavor.
Mandurian Round – 60 days. Short, squat plants produce fruit with light and dark green variegated skin and crisp, sweet flesh best eaten no larger than a baseball.
Miniature White - 48 days. Compact plants produce high yields of small, 3 inch, white cucumbers. The highly productive vines do well in all types of environments.
Poona Kheera – 55 days. Hardy disease resistant vines produce smooth skinned fruits that from white to yellow to brown. Tender, crisp and delicious skin and all.
Eggplant
Casper - 70 days. This ivory-white skinned eggplant is a very early producer of 5-6 inch long fruit. Even in northern gardens, the medium size plants bear very well.
Diamond – 70 days. Fruits are set in clusters on 2 foot, disease resistant plants. Dark purple fruits are 6 by 2 inches with excellent texture and flavor, rarely bitter.
Green Apple - 60 days. A delightful, pale green/whitish skinned eggplant with a mild and delicate flavor. This variety is perfect for short or cool, damp season climates.
Kamo - 60 days. Considered the finest of all eggplants in Japan. Half pound fruit measuring 4 inches in diameter with richer flavor and deeper color are hard to find.
Purple Fingerling - 68 days. Plants only reach 28” or smaller in containers with 2”-6”elongated fruits in clusters. Highly productive, tender and mild Asian type.
Turkish Orange – 65 days. A compact, insect resistant strain which produces an abundance of 3 inch fruit delicious when green and a great stuffer once orange.
Herbs
Cilantro/Coriander - This is the slow bolting version which produces flavorful leaves over a longer period before going to seed which is ground and used for spice.
Greek Basil - Forms a perfect 12-18 inch globe bush with intense scent and spicy flavor, slow to go to seed. Ideal for containers, very uniform annual strain.
Greek Oregano - Light green, oval, pointed leaves are slightly wavy at the edges with a delicious, pungent flavor better than true oregano. Perennial in Zones 4-9.
Italian Giant Parsley - Bushy plants produce a continuous supply of large flat leaves with strong flavor which is prized by chefs. Biennial in Zone 6-9 or an annual.
French Thyme – A very flavorful strain and one of the most versatile in cooking, growing 6-12 inches tall with a sprawling habit. Perennial in Zones 5-8 or an annual.
Lettuce
Amish Deer Tongue - 45 days. Thick compact plant valued for its ruggedness and heavy cut again production. Thin mid-rib, good texture and pleasant sharp flavor.
Baby Oak Leaf - 45 days. Produces very flavorful medium dark lettuce shaped like oak leaves. Fast growing and never bitter. Re-grows well after cutting, non bolting.
Little Gem - 33 days. Miniature green romaine with blanched thick heart. Heads are about 4 inches across and prime eating 4-6 inches tall. Space plants 6 inches.
Midnight Ruffles - 45 days. Intense, blackish-burgundy frilly leaves are puckered and blistered with wavy edges maintain their bitter free flavor well into the heat.
Tom Thumb - 34 days. This miniature butter head lettuce heads about the size of a baseball. It tolerates high temperatures and resists bolting better than most.
Valmaine - 56 days. The tall, romaine plants are harvestable to a foot tall with excellent flavor and upright heads. It is very heat tolerant and resistant to bolting.
Melons
Bush Sugar Baby - 78 days. Sweet, scarlet “icebox” watermelons grow on space-saving vines only 2 feet tall and 3.5 feet long, bearing refrigerator friendly melons.
Charentais – 75 days. Considered by many to be the most flavorful melon. Sweet and juicy, orange flesh, typically the size of grapefruit and weighing 2-3 pounds.
Cream of Saskatchewan - 80 days. A variety from Russia that produces good yields of very sweet, ten pound white watermelons. Does well in northern gardens.
Golden Midget - 70 days. Sweet with golden yellow rind and salmon pink flesh weighing around 3 pounds. Very early variety that turns color when it is ripe.
Jenny Lind - 70 days. A variety from the early 1800’s that produces good yields of turban shaped muskmelons with lime green flesh that is juicy and delightful.
Minnesota Midget - 60 days. Three foot vines produce good yields of 4 to 6 inch cantaloupes with golden yellow flesh with high sugar content. Ideal for small spaces.
Petite Gris – 80 days. French cantaloupe grown for over 400 years. Fruits weigh 2-3 pounds and have mustard and olive speckled rinds with flavorful orange flesh.
Rocky Ford - 65 days. Vigorous vines set loads of fruit with great flavor and aroma with hints of nutmeg. Melons weigh 2 pounds with sweet and juicy green flesh.
Sakata Sweet – 80 days. This type of Asian melon has been grown for thousands of years. Golden yellow softball size fruit is very sweet and crisp with edible skin.
Sweet Siberian - 80 days. Hundred year heirloom produces good yields of ten pound light green watermelons with apricot colored flesh that is very sweet and juicy.
Tigger - 80 days. Produces heavy yields of pound size yellow melons with red stripes. The flesh is white and very sweet tasting. Produces well in dry conditions.
Peas
Oregon Sugar Pod II - 68 days. Bush type that produces an abundance of high quality string-less pods with excellent disease resistance that allows for fall planting.
Sugar Sprint Snap - 55 days. One of the earliest maturing varieties which heavily produces over an extended period. Heat tolerant and very disease resistant.
Peppers
Anaheim Chili - 74 days. Productive plants yield 6-8 inch long, thick walled conical peppers that ripen from green to red with medium heat range for your palate.
Bulgarian Carrot – 70 days. Eighteen inch plants produce abundant crops of 3 inch long peepers that ripen to yellow-orange. Crunchy flesh is quite hot, yet fruity.
California Wonder - 65 days. This leafy plant provides excellent sun scald protection for the large bell peppers and is a great choice for cool growing conditions.
Cubanelle - 65 days. Delicious, sweet Italian type with 5 to 6 inch long, green, thick skinned fruits with two to three lobes that turn yellow, then bright red at maturity.
Early Jalapeno - 66 days. The stocky 2 foot tall plants will not fall over or break branches under heavy load and set fruit under cooler conditions than other types.
Hungarian Yellow Wax - 67 days. Two foot tall plants with banana shaped fruit that start yellow and turn red at maturity with a spicy, fairly hot burn without aftertaste.
Jimmy Nardello – 75 days. Productive 24 inch tall plants are loaded with glossy red peppers approaching 10 inches with a delicious roasted apple flavor when fried.
Mulato Isleno - 76 days. This dark green pepper matures to a rich chocolate color called anchos when dried, poblanos when fresh. They are mildly spicy and flavorful.
Serrano – 75 days. Slender, super hot 2 inch fruits ripen to red on super productive 30 inch plants. Widely used in Mexican cuisine, they last well for fresh storage.
Sweet Banana - 66 days. 6 inch long and tapered fruit ripen from light green to yellow, orange, then to red. This popular, old heirloom has a long productive harvest.
Tomatoes
Bush Beefsteak - 62 days. Perfect sandwich-sized fruits on a square foot sized variety that produces deep, rich, red, solid-fleshed fruits on bushy, vigorous plants.
Chico III - 67 days. Very early sauce tomato with excellent flavor and disease resistance. The solid fruit many consider superior to Roma as it is earlier and sweeter.
Gold Nugget - 60 days. Vigorous and compact plants support a heavy crop of golden cherry fruit with an unusually rich, sweet flavor from early season until frost.
Green Grape - 70 days. Unique olive yellow small, globe shaped tomatoes with green flesh that possesses an addictive spicy sweet flavor on very productive plants
Green Sausage – 75 days. Beautiful, elongated 4 inch fruits are yellow with olive green stripes with firm flesh and a rich sweet flavor on productive prostate plants.

Silvery Fir Tree - 58 days. Fire engine red fruit with a tangy taste ripen early and produce heavily on compact determinate plants with delicate fern-like foliage.
Taxi - 65 days. The best yellow tomato for short season growers. Expect heavy yields on this determinate variety which grows about 2 feet tall and 2 feet across.
Tiny Tim - 45 days. Tree-like, dwarf plants produce excellent yields of bright red cherry tomatoes. This is a perfect variety for small containers or tight spaces.
