Approved applications will be valid for that particular financial year (i.e. 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2016). Short Term vacancies (up to 6 months) within Teaching and Learning Services (TLS) arise from time to time for positions at a range of levels. Eligible employees are invited to register an Expression of Interest for these assignments. Teaching and Learning Services Our Purpose - To support quality teaching and learning in DECD preschools and schools and successful post-school pathways for every young person. TLS provides policy clarity and professional support to leaders and teachers in relation to teaching and learning and curriculum and assessment in government preschools and schools. The policy foundations of this work are provided by the: National Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) that became the official early childhood curriculum framework for South Australia in 2010 RESPECT REFLECT RELATE (RRR) resource that supports the EYLF, providing detailed guidance and processes for improving and assessing the effectiveness of teaching and learning environments in the early childhood sector SA Curriculum, Standards and Accountability (SACSA) framework in Years R-10, which is being progressively replaced by the Australian Curriculum Australian Curriculum currently being implemented in SA schools. In DECD, Australian Curriculum implementation is supported by a focus on improved teaching and learning using the Teaching for Effective Learning (TfEL) framework. SA Teaching for Effective Learning (TfEL) framework, which provides the DECD policy position on quality pedagogy. South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) in Years 11 and 12, which has been developed by the SACE Board of SA and incorporates nationally developed vocational education and training (VET) packages A particular focus on new media is designed to ensure TLS services for schools incorporate new learning technologies and foster leaders' and teachers' capacities to use them innovatively and effectively in their practice. Teaching and Learning Services also provides: ongoing strategic policy advice and services to the Minister and Chief Executive through parliamentary, estimates, SCSEEC and AEEYSOC briefings and responses to correspondence. coordination of DECD liaison and consultation with ACARA, SACE Board and other relevant agencies. 3 | TLS Skills Register 2015-16 | June 2015 Roles within Teaching and Learning Services An Expression of Interest is invited from applicants for a range of positions. Short term positions are available to Education Act and Public Service Act employees. The conditions of this opportunity include that, unless negotiated otherwise, successful applicants will remain employed under the Education Act, but be appointed under Public Sector Act conditions. (a) S101B Education Act & Public Sector Act, Nominal Salary S101B positions do not require teacher registration or a current authority to teach. A criminal history check may be required prior to confirmation of an appointment. (b) Education Act, Seconded Teacher Levels 1 - 3 Seconded teacher positions require current teacher registration. Applicants must be permanent DECD employees, or have a current, active Employable Teacher Register (ETR) application with DECD and meet DECD minimum employment requirements. (c) On Assignment: Successful applicants remain employed under the Education Act and are appointed under teacher conditions for periods up to 2 schools terms. Specific duties will vary with the role. All positions are accountable to the relevant Director and the Executive Director, Teaching and Learning Services. Location Based in the Education Centre, 31 Flinders Street, Adelaide, the work may involve work with regions and sites, out of hours work, intrastate and interstate travel. Term of Appointment: Maximum of six months. At the conclusion of their appointment, permanent employees of DECD will be placed according to the terms of their substantive appointment and the policies in operation at the time. The placement of employees from other public sector organisations will be the responsibility of these organisations. Applicants who are not permanent employees of DECD or are from another public sector organisation do not hold placement rights with DECD at the conclusion of the appointment.
