TEACHING & LEARNING SERVICES SKILLS REGISTER 2015-16
NOTES & GUIDELINES
Registration of Interest
The TLS Skills Register is compiled annually. Approved applications will be valid for that particular financial year (i.e.
1 July 2015 to 30 June 2016).
Short Term vacancies (up to 6 months) within Teaching and Learning Services (TLS) arise from time to time for positions
at a range of levels. Eligible employees are invited to register an Expression of Interest for these assignments.
Teaching and Learning Services
Our Purpose - To support quality teaching and learning in DECD preschools and schools and successful post-school
pathways for every young person.
TLS provides policy clarity and professional support to leaders and teachers in relation to teaching and learning and
curriculum and assessment in government preschools and schools. The policy foundations of this work are provided
by the:

National Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) that became the official early childhood curriculum framework
for South Australia in 2010

RESPECT REFLECT RELATE (RRR) resource that supports the EYLF, providing detailed guidance and processes for
improving and assessing the effectiveness of teaching and learning environments in the early childhood sector

SA Curriculum, Standards and Accountability (SACSA) framework in Years R-10, which is being progressively
replaced by the Australian Curriculum

Australian Curriculum currently being implemented in SA schools. In DECD, Australian Curriculum implementation
is supported by a focus on improved teaching and learning using the Teaching for Effective Learning (TfEL)
framework.

SA Teaching for Effective Learning (TfEL) framework, which provides the DECD policy position on quality
pedagogy.

South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) in Years 11 and 12, which has been developed by the SACE Board
of SA and incorporates nationally developed vocational education and training (VET) packages
A particular focus on new media is designed to ensure TLS services for schools incorporate new learning technologies
and foster leaders' and teachers' capacities to use them innovatively and effectively in their practice.
Teaching and Learning Services also provides:
 ongoing strategic policy advice and services to the Minister and Chief Executive through parliamentary, estimates,
SCSEEC and AEEYSOC briefings and responses to correspondence.

coordination of DECD liaison and consultation with ACARA, SACE Board and other relevant agencies.
