About 300 years after our Lord was crucified, Emperor Constantine became king.
He was a righteous man, whose mother was Queen Helen. They loved the Lord.
The Cross on which the Lord was crucified was lost; no one knew where it was.
Hoping to find this Cross, Queen Helen went to Jerusalem where the Lord was crucified.
She looked everywhere but could not find it.
Finally, Queen Helen found an old man named Judas who told her where the Cross was buried.
The Jews who didn’t believe in Jesus hid the Cross by covering it up with garbage over many years.
Queen Helen went and removed the big mountain of garbage and found 3 crosses underneath.
Which one was the real Cross our Lord was crucified on?
Queen Helen did not know but she believed in the amazing power of the Cross.
She tested its power by putting each cross on a dead person.
Nothing happened with the 1st and 2nd crosses, but when the 3rd Cross was put on the dead person, he
became alive again! This was the real Cross.
Emperor Constantine & Queen Helen built a big church and put the Cross in it.
