KAYMAZ GOLD MINE
ENVIRONMENTAL MEASURINGS AND CONTOLS
.
As required by EIA, and within Kaymaz Gold Mine Environment Management Program, following measurements are carried out according to the procedures
Particle Dust Measurement (at 2 locations)
Measurement of Heavy metals in particle dust( 2 locations)
Measurement of settled dust ( 4 locations ) ),
Noise Measurement ( 2 locations)
Vibration Measurement( 1 location)
Blasting (Pressure and vibration measurement
Monitoring wild life (continuously)
Monitoring TSF Drainage ),
Monitoring Process Water (3 locations)
Monitoring Spring Waters ( 1 location
Monitoring Surface Waters (4 locations)
Monitoring Underground Waters(8 locations)
Monitoring Household Waste
Waters(monthly ),
Monitoring Usable Water (monthly, 3 locations ) economy, protecting environment, social responsibility and transparency. As the result of this, measures have been taken to eliminate any kind of threats that will affect human life, agricultural products, flora and fauna and quality of air, water and soil.
Dust Control /
Production at Kaymaz Gold Mine is carried out with a management consciences based on a principle of SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT, which is integral to the contribution to the
Particles substance and settled dust (PM) measures have been regularly conducted on the site for PM emission control at Kaymaz Gold Mine since May, 2008. PM concentration is being carried out regularly by 1(one) automatic measurement device. For settled dust, 4 dust buckets are used in measuring monthly. Spraying method is being used to reduce PM emissions that may occur at open pit or haulage roads before or after blasting. Weekly measures of heavy metals in particle dust are sent to KTU for analysis.
Noise and Vibration:
The measurements of Noise and vibration are regularly conducted at 2 locations. Complying with Regulation for Environmental Noise Assessment and Management, the limit values are
65 dBA for a day, 60 dBA, for evening and 55dBA for night time at the distance of 1 metre to buildings at settlement units,

ENVIRONMENTAL MEASURINGS AND CONTOLS
Hydrogen Cyanide (HCN Control:
In order to prevent release of HCN gas at the Plant, pH is kept at above 10.5. in process water sources like leaching, settling and desorption units for safe working environment thus
HCN gas formation is prevented and continuous HCN measurements are taken around these units. Additionally, HCN gas measurements are conducted daily by HCN gas detectors around the plant and TSF. Devices have two- staged alarm limits being 5 ppm and 10 ppm.
Process Waters:
WADCN (weak acid dissociable cyanide) and TCN (total cyanide) analyses are conducted daily at TSF, plant, plant recovered water and chemical treatment outlet. The limit value undertaken for TSF is 10ppm. Heavy metal analysis measurements are also conducted monthly at TSF.

ENVIRONMENTAL MEASURINGS AND CONTOLS
Household and Laboratory Waste Water:
Approximately 1500 meter sewer network was installed. Biological wastewater treatment plant with capacity of 60m3/day was constructed and GFB was obtained. Daily samples are sent for analysis. Wastewater from laboratory is pumped into Chemical Treatment Plant for disposal.
Surface and Spring Waters:
Weekly and monthly samples are taken and monitored at two points, Caylagozu Creek and
KYD fountain at Buyukdere and TSF sub-drainage water to determine quality of surface water. The samples are sent to ALS and Greater City Council of Eskisehir laboratories for analysis and the results of this analysis are published in monthly environment report.
Daily pH conductivity, temperature and O
2 parameters are checked.
Monthly water pollution is monitored according to Water Pollution Regulation

Underground Waters
The Wells are located around Open Pit, Waste Storage Area and TSF and at the direction of flow of underground water to monitor the quality of underground water. Additionally, K-174,
Kizilagil and Cifteayak boreholes were drilled for usable water. Water quality in these wells is monitored weekly and monthly. Samples are sent to laboratories of Greater City Council of
Eskisehir and results are published in monthly environment report.
.
pH, conductivity, temperature and water levels are measured weekly
37 parameters including physical parameters, dissolved anion, nutrients, organic parameters and metals are monitored.
