Application Form and Instructions
INSTRUCTIONS:
The Institute of International Education (IIE) intends to provide a small number of scholarships to
Syrian refugee youth, both women and men, for undergraduate university studies at public
universities in Jordan. The successful applicants will be awarded scholarships to help enable
students to complete their undergraduate degrees, with duration and amount varying based upon
the needs of the students. Housing will not be included in any of the scholarships.
Interested young men and women should fill in all parts of the application below. Please send all
documents as attachments in the same email to the following address: MENAInfo@iie.org. Please
send only one email per applicant and include all attachments in this email.
The DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS is Saturday, July 4, 2015.
Those people shortlisted for the scholarships may be asked to participate in an interview.
IIE will select students using the following criteria.
Necessary qualifications:
 currently live in the Za’atari refugee camp or elsewhere in Jordan.
 registered as a refugee with UNHCR.
 have completed at least three semesters of full time undergraduate education in good
standing, in Syria, Jordan, or another country.
Preferred qualifications:
 plans to major in fields of study that could be particularly useful to the Syrian refugee
community after graduation, such as education (including teaching), social work, sciences
(including but not limited to nursing and psychology), and languages (English, Arabic, and
other languages).
 have a proven track record of community service and committed to community service
upon completion of a university degree
If you have questions, please email MENAInfo@iie.org.
NOTE: Only students who have successfully completed at least three semesters of university study
in Syria, Jordan, or another country will be eligible for the scholarships. Students who have not
completed at least three semesters of study are not eligible; however, IIE and its partners hope to
be able to provide additional scholarships in the future that would allow students with different
profiles to apply.
