Dear Stone Bank Staff,
We hope this letter finds you recharged and looking forward to a great year. Many new things
are in place for the coming school year and we will talk more about them in our August inservice. First off, lets welcome our new staff:

Lynn and I kept team planning and classroom preparation time in mind as we balance the diverse
work load for the start of this school year. There may be some slight changes presented due to
construction finishing completion or otherwise. We will inform you of any changes at our
Tuesday Welcome back meeting. Please see the following August in-service calendar as we get
ready for Open House and our first day with students:

Overview:
Building on what they learned in Instructional Planning, teachers and leaders participate
in guided application of key Power Practices to plan differentiated and personalized
instruction for their students, based on data from the first i-Ready Diagnostic of the year.
Participants explore additional Power Practices that will allow them to monitor student
progress and adjust instruction based on Monitoring data and Response to Instruction
reports. They will work together to update the classroom implementation plans they
created during the Instructional Planning workshop as needed to make the most of their iReady use and help all of their learners succeed.
Outcomes:



Create effective instructional plans based on students’ first Diagnostic data and using key
i-Ready Instructional Power Practices,
Adjust and personalize instructional plans based on i-Ready monitoring data,
Adjust classroom implementation plans based on lessons learned from the first few
weeks/months using i-Ready.
Workshop 2
Supplementing Journeys reading planning for differentiated instruction
Outcomes: Literature circle and/or chapter books to enhance where
effective
Workshop 3
Learning A to Z tools for differentiating reading, writing, and science
Outcomes: Implement new tools purchased this summer into lesson plans
for September and throughout the school year

Workshop 4
Elementary Science and Next Generation Science standards.
Outcomes: Identify the hands on science activities in the intermediate
grades that will be added in September and throughout the year
Workshop 5
Those not directly connected to workshops 1 -4, please continue our work
on other summer projects: websites & brochures, instructional use of
Google, STEM set up and planning, healthy schools & staff wellness
initiatives and Skyward training. Please see Phil or Lynn regarding
approval for other school improvement needs if necessary.
