Algebra II

Course Description:
This course continues to expand on concepts covered in Algebra I and introduces
matrices, imaginary numbers, and graphs of conic sections.
Art & Design (Art I)

Course Description:
Art 1 is a building block or foundation course. This class includes a broad range of topics
that help prepare students for all subsequent courses pertaining to art. Classes will
encompass age appropriate work. There are four parts to a disciplined art basic program:
* The project or product (lets make something)
* Art Appreciation (quality of art)
* Art History (who did what when)
* Critiquing Art (my work is good because…or Monet’s work is good because..)

Course Description:
Students will learn how to use a wide range of models and techniques in writing
composition as they comprehend and digest a variety of enjoyable fiction and nonfiction.
Financial Peace

Course Description:
This class will cover budgeting, savings, investments, insurance, how to write a check
and balance a checkbook. We will also cover the difference between a debit and credit
card, as well as the importance of staying out of debt! The students fill in the book that
moves along with the video. Discussion questions are asked during each video segment.
In addition, there is a test at the end of each chapter. If a student has a job I will assist
them in setting up a budget.
Focused Reading
(One-on-one program or small group for reading comprehension)

Course Description:
A course for beginners in Hebrew with attention to the Aleph-Bet. The course will have a
more basic view and understanding of the Aleph-Bet as well as vowels and consonant’s.
Intended to develop the ability to read basic words and provide a foundation for further
studies. No previous knowledge of Hebrew is assumed.
Junk Drawer Robotics

Course Description:
The Junk Drawer Robotics curriculum has three books. In book 1, the student will
explore the design and function of robotic arms, hands and grippers and build a robotic
arm that really moves! In book 2, the student will design and build machines that roll,
slide, draw or move underwater and explore robot mobility-movement, power transfer
and locomotion. Book 3 is all about the connection between the mechanical and
electronic elements of robots and the student will explore sensors, write programs, build
circuits and design their own robot.
Oklahoma History for Kids

Course Description:
Each student will build his/her own Oklahoma History notebook. The student will have
vocabulary, notes, maps, timelines, book reports, article outlines and any other tools
needed to learn more about our great state’s history. We will also go on field trips and
the students will write about the experience and what they learned.
Photography I

Course Description:
This course is designed to help students learn how to get out of auto settings on their
cameras and into manual settings. Weekly assignments will be given so that students
have the opportunity to practice the art of photography. Students will learn different
ways of displaying photography with each of the assigned projects. Most of all, students
will have lots of fun!
Pre-Algebra (Life of Fred)

Course Description:
Life of Fred is a fun, interactive way to learn Pre-Algebra. The Pre-Algebra course is
actually three books and also covers beginning physics, beginning biology, and high
school economics. Life of Fred puts math into the context of everyday useful skills
instead of contrived disconnected math facts with no connection with the real world. Life
of Fred cuts most of the “kill and drill” out of math while adding in other useful life skills
information. Many students who “hate” math, find Life of Fred a refreshing, fun way to
achieve their math requirements. The student will be required to do 4 to 6 lessons a week
outside of class. Some weeks the bridges (tests) will be required for homework.

Course Description:
This class will focus on understanding what is being read and then discussing it. We will
work on building confidence when reading aloud. We will work on reading flow and
reading with emotions shown by punctuation used. We will use worksheets with short
stories and questions to answer. We will read a few chapter books and a couple of
readers from Abeka.
Spanish I

Course Description:
This is a beginning Spanish class designed to teach grammar and communication skills
needed to speak the Spanish language. In this class we will focus on pronunciation,
conjugation and vocabulary. My hope is that each child will leave this class with the
confidence needed to be able to attempt conversations with native speakers

Description:
Students will use this time for studying, as well as for discussion/on task time for the
Study Smart-Work Skills concept. Students will have opportunities to listen to guest
speakers discussing a profession, college or employer. This time also includes
opportunities for the students to socialize with each other.
