August 10, 2012 Dear Parents, We are delighted to begin another school year with your child as a student here at Alexander City Middle School. The mission of our school system is to provide a learning environment where all excel! Here at ACMS we have embraced this mission wholeheartedly. The first step in providing an environment where all excel is to provide an environment that is conducive to learning and one that has ample resources for all students. We have adopted an attitude of caring for and providing for the whole child! In short we have taken on the challenge of “Moving our school from “Good” to “Great”! The first leg of this endeavor is to make sure that our facility is one that students, parents, faculty, staff, and the community can be proud of. We began a revitalization of our campus this summer. We painted the entire inside of our building and the boys’ gym. We purchased new chairs to be used during assemblies so that all parents and students will have a place to sit. We have also upgraded many of the amenities that your child will enjoy while here at ACMS. We want to maintain the electronic technology that your child has become accustomed to and will have access to while a student here. It goes without saying that this project will have to be funded in some manner. We have six fundraisers in mind, only two of which requires our students to solicit sales. The six fundraisers are: Back-to-School Block Party Otis-Spunkmeyer cookie dough sale The annual coke sale A pre-homecoming dance A Fall festival A donation drive This letter serves as the kick-off of the donation drive. We are asking parents to make a donation to our school. We are appreciative of any donation no matter what the amount may be. These donations will be accepted at any time during the school year and may be made by simply completing the bottom portion of this form and returning it along with your contribution to your child’s homeroom teacher. You may also make contributions on our school website by using the myschoolbucks link. We know that everyone wants to give and be a part of the “greatness” that will become ACMS! You may not be able to or desire to participate in one of the six fundraising activities; however, you can participate in this donation drive. One fast and easy way to help is to “purchase” one of the chairs for us. We paid approximately $20.00 per chair. For a donation of $20.00 you can “purchase” one of the chairs. Your contribution, in whatever manner will be greatly appreciated and will be instrumental in helping us to move from “Good” to “Great”. We look forward to hearing from you and having a “Great” year here at ACMS! Go Wildcats! Sincerely, Beverly Price, Ed.D.
