Mission Kids CAC Associate Director Job Description The Associate Director must demonstrate a passion for the issue of child abuse and children and have experience in this field. This position reports to the Executive Director. This position will supervise the Development Associate position and requires fundraising and grant writing skills. This position requires leadership skills; management skills; presentation/public speaking skills; financial understanding and abilities; understanding of the best practices for the prevention and treatment of child abuse and child trauma. Job Details and Responsibilities: Support the Executive Director in overseeing development and outreach, human resources, legal, marketing, writing CAC policies and procedures, and compliance with all pertinent regulations or standards. Point of contact for employee HR issues and participates in new employee orientation and HR requirements. Writes cases for support for overall agency work and for project-specific work, including gathering stories and statistics as appropriate. Research, identification and write application to grantors and preparation of grant reports. Oversees compliance of grant funded projects and compliance with grantor requirements. Lead strategies and research to identify, prioritize, cultivate, solicit, recognize and steward foundation, corporate and government donors. Work with Executive Director and Board of Directors to identify and cultivate donors; identify and cultivate foundation, corporate and government funding prospects. Develop, nurture and maintain ongoing relationships with funding sources. Assist with developing and implementing fund raising events including MK Annual Fundraiser. Represent the Center’s purpose, goals and program at public presentations, educational programs and community networking events. Oversee development of all agency publications, including but not limited to, Annual Report, newsletters and website. Solicit philanthropic gifts through special events, direct mail, capital campaigns, etc. Assist the Executive Director to plan, develop, implement and update the strategic plan for MKCAC. Assist the Executive Director to cultivate, nurture and maintain strong working relationships with key legislators and other officials at the local, state and federal levels as needed to obtain support for funding appropriations and development. Supervise Development Associate position in arranging presentations and trainings to educate the community and all other work. Serve as a representative of MK at public forums and does public speaking as necessary. Oversee and manage donor database, track donors and prospects, generate reports. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director. Requirements: College degree required with an advanced degree preferred. Three to five years experience in fundraising, development and grant writing. Knowledge of child trauma and child sexual abuse. Experience working with a wide diversity of people and agencies preferred. Experience supervising staff. Knowledge of non-profit fiscal management and ability to work with data base and spread sheet computer programs. Successful completion of background checks which include child abuse history, criminal history and FBI clearances. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Demonstrated strong problem solving and decision making ability. Must be mission driven with unquestionable integrity. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with multi-cultural and diverse constituencies. Strong leadership and managerial capability and the ability to develop and mentor personnel. Demonstrated ability to establish and promote positive relationships, and actively contribute to creating a highly cooperative work environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent analytic ability. Demonstrated ability to communicate persuasively the importance of philanthropy and an excellent track record in fundraising. Computer literacy and proficiency with knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and donor database functions Ability to professionally handle highly confidential information. Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to manage projects and events from conception through completion. Demonstrated success in grant writing. Demonstrated success in working as a member of a team and developing effective working relationships with staff, volunteers and donors. Physical Requirements: In this position an employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 lbs. Must be able to work on a computer and/or telephone for extended periods of time.
