East Asia Project Orientation A special opportunity in 2014 You might be the one who could help make a difference in the life of another person on the other side of the world! Students in East Asia are eager to practice English and make friends with Americans. And, at least right now, many have an interest in talking about spiritual things but this could be a short window of opportunity. Experienced missionaries have commented that this opportunity could possibly close in the next 10 years if next generation leaders are not raised up. Let’s pray and take action to fan into flame missional churches and leaders for His kingdom. The Need When you visit students in East Asia, you will find that many are totally ignorant of the Bible and who Jesus Christ is (although it’s been changing in the last couple years). As you know, their eternal life depends on Jesus, but for various reasons, including government restrictions, they are ignorant until someone helps them understand. What’s already been happening In the summer of 2012, short-term mission teams led Gospel camps, leadership camps, business camps, community services and American cultural exchange camps for high school & college students in partnership with over 10 Asian churches. In 2013, two to three church plants will take place in Asia. Missionaries will be mobilized. How You Can Make A Difference In the pass few years, we saw many people come to know the Lord as a result of the mission. One of our teams spent four days in five local resident’s homes to celebrate both American and Asian festivals with their “households”. As we were getting on the bus to leave, four teens decided to come along for the ride. It was our break in the middle of the mission. We shared 15 testimonies on the way to our destination. Then all four teens went with us for sight seeing. They had water fights; they shopped and worshipped the Lord in the bus for 1.5 hours. All four accepted Christ that evening. These teens witnessed authentic Christian living, they had fun and they saw the love of Christ and the craziness of believers. There is no reason not to believe. We are in awe of how the Lord has taken one little summer mission trip in 2004 and expanded it from one project into 10-20 projects annually. Everyone took part in seeing people come to the Lord. Some of the conversions were a result of two years of contact. There are open doors for the gospel all over Asia. Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. (Cor 15:58) Would you consider joining with us in this challenging adventure next year, as good soldiers of Christ? Objectives (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) Make disciples of all nations (particularly in East Asia, where the harvest is ready) as we are mandated to take part in the Great Commission of Jesus Christ. Build partnership with a host church, especially great commission churches (Hong Kong, Taiwan & creative access country) to conduct cross-cultural mission together, leading to the possible formation new church plants. Grow in relationship with the Lord as each one takes steps of faith in mission, thereby, becoming a more equipped disciple of Christ to minister to people both locally and globally. Develop leadership qualities in the context of community by laboring together in Hong Kong, Taiwan and other parts of Asia. Explore creative mission approaches to make disciples in “creative access countries”. In the year 2013, it is our aim to help strengthening churches in Taiwan, a creative access country, Japan and Hong Kong.
