WE HEAR THE WORD
(V4) READING: Psalm 107:33-38

God turns
rivers into desert, watery springs into thirsty ground,
fruitful land into unproductive dirt, when its inhabitants are wicked.
But God can also turn the desert into watery pools,
thirsty ground into watery springs, where he settles the hungry.
They even build a city and live there!
They plant fields and vineyards and obtain a fruitful harvest.
God blesses them, and they become many.
Holy wisdom; Holy Word.
Thanks be to God.

WE RESPOND TO THE WORD
SONG: “SPIRIT OF THE LIVING GOD”
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on us. (repeat)
Melt us, mold us, fill us, use us.
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on us.
Living water, come from God, flow within us. (repeat)
Wash us, quench us, fill us, cool us.
Living water, come from God, flow within us.
(V1) LITANY for Refreshii
Breath of Life, you sustain the pulse of life.
In you, we live and move and have our being.
Into the barren valley of chaos, you breathed, River of Love.
Let living waters flow into our hearts this day, O God of grace.
In you, the deserts of our souls are turned into watery pools.
In you, our broken relationships are knitted together into the Beloved’s community.
You claim us, and we find our song and our voice.
Let living waters flow into our hearts this day, O God of grace.
Through you, our spirits are refreshed!
Through you, the valley of despair becomes the garden of grace!
Through you, our weary souls are filled with joy’s breath!
Let living waters flow into our hearts this day, O God of grace.
We have come to the waters—
to a time of remembering whose we are,
a time of re-declaring our loyalties and renewing our spirits.
And you claim us anew.
Let living waters flow into our hearts this day, O God of grace.
Sometimes in our ministries, we feel broken, battered, and lifeless.
Sometimes, our bones are dry and we have lost sight of who we are.
When we find ourselves, lost and wandering, in the desert,
Let new life flow into our homes, into our neighborhoods,

into our
relationships. Breathe new life into our United Methodist Church,
that we might live abundantly.
We trust in your power to breathe new life into dry and dead situations.
We trust in you to provide grace in a barren land.
We await your life-giving spirit to fill us
so that we might be revived and restored, resurrected and renewed.
And so we bring ourselves again to the waters to release our hopes and fears.
Heart of our hearts and our loving,
Heart of our dreams and our homecoming,
Heart of our healing and our hope,
Let living waters flow into our hearts this day, O God of grace.
RITUAL of RESPONSE:
What things do we need to let go of in order to dance with the Spirit?
What hopes do we need to name in order to spark the flames of the Spirit?
 Write a word or short phrase on the slip of paper provided.
 Bring your word or phrase to the stations of water and place them in the bowl.
 Allow your hopes and fears to be released.

V7:
When we open a space in our hearts, the beauty of God slides in.
In this moment, everything is possible.
When we see the opportunities for transformation in us and others,
In this moment, everything is possible.
Given that dream, we go out to rebuild and restore this world with love.
We have been called together for a time, a time of renewal by a living God.
In this moment, everything is possible.
We have been claimed for all time by a loving Christ.
In this moment, everything is possible.
We are sent forth into a time of change,
a time of restoration and regeneration, blown by the winds of the Spirit.
P: Called by a God of newness for this moment,
we reclaim our name and venture out
into a world of new possibilities! Amen.
