Preschool Program: CLP School Year 2015-2016 Thank you for your interest in Central Lutheran Preschool. We would like to share some basic information about our program and hopefully answer some of your questions. Our program is a developmentally appropriate program that promotes the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of young children. We support parents in their role as the primary caregiver and teacher of their children. We serve children ages 3-5 years old. Our program is theme-based with a learning-through play approach to name recognition, letters, numbers, colors and shapes using books, songs and hands-on activities. Children will also learn social skills to aid in a successful kindergarten experience. We offer an extended-day supplementary class two days per week beginning in October for those children planning to enter Kindergarten the following September. This is an addition to the regular preschool experience, and is available at the discretion of the preschool teacher. The focus is on numbers, letters and kindergarten readiness. Extended day will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 12:00-1:15. As a parent co-operative preschool program, parent involvement is required. This means that each family has the opportunity and responsibility to assist in our classroom three times a month (for children attending 2 days per week) or four times a month (for children attending 3-5 days per week) as a teacher assistant. You may be asked to work an extra day during months that are five weeks long. During the year, community building opportunities include: Family Festivals, Fundraisers, and Family Work Parties. Each family will attend our monthly parent education meetings. These meetings offer shared support in a parent community, include parenting techniques and current research on early childhood development. Families will also attend two yearly planning meetings, and possibly serve on a committee or on the board. Our program is a non-profit, self-supporting, community-based program. Financially, we operate with a monthly tuition, enrollment fees and fundraising. There is a $40.00 non-refundable enrollment fee. Tuition is dependent on the number of days your child attends. The two day a week program is $75 per month, the three day a week program is $85 per month, the four day a week program is $95 per month, and the five day a week program is $105 per month. If your child is ready for extended-day, monthly tuition for this additional 2-day program is $40per month. Our classroom hours are from 9:00 to 11:30am, Monday through Friday. Each family will be asked to contribute $50.00 during the course of the year through fundraising opportunities or contributions. On Tuesday mornings, our class visits the Senior Respite group that meets in our church for 10-15 minutes of interaction and songs. On Wednesdays and Thursdays, we end our day with 15 minutes of optional chapel time with the pastors of our church. This is a non-denominational, developmentally appropriate few minutes for spiritual growth. We also include a monthly field trip to explore and enhance our understanding of community. If you would like to set up a tour of the classroom, or more information about our program, contact Coordinator Katy Ulmer at either 509-653-2702, or by email at katy.ulmer@gmail.com.
