Place used cell phones, chargers, and ink cartridges in sealed clear plastic bags and place on top of recycling bin. Items like TV’s and computers require a yellow sticker and are to be put out on trash day. They are taken separately to a facility that reclaims the metals and recycles other parts. Oil and Antifreeze Open to the public, there is a drop-off site located at 361 Michael Lane. Trash Containers require pre-paid Aberdeen trash stickers to cover the cost of the County-imposed tipping fee. Only trash items require stickers (not recyclables or yard waste). Stickers should be placed on the bags or on the top piece of trash inside of the can. In cold or rainy weather, stickers should be placed around the “neck” of the bag to reduce slippage. Plastic Bottles and jugs (milk, water, cooling oil, salad dressing, shampoo, Polystyrene (Styrofoam), inserts and packing liquid soap, spray products, etc.), disposable plastic cups, flower and peanuts, cutlery, bags or sheeting, CD cases, nursery pots, plastic toys, buckets & pails w/ handles, wide mouth motor oil bottles, pesticide or solvent bottles, containers (margarine, yogurt, peanut butter, etc.), plastic lawn plastic electronics (alarm clock, coffee maker, furniture, plastic coolers, trash cans, laundry baskets. etc.) piping, vinyl siding. Bundles CAN NOT waste, garbage, rocks, bricks, large quantities of dirt, construction exceed 60 lbs. or 4 ft. in length. Whole Christmas trees. debris, lawn ornaments. No more alternating between paper one week and bottles and cans the next week. Residents may continue to use green and blue bins, but may also choose to buy their own. Please be sure to place one of the City’s new recycling stickers on your recycling can of choice. Recyclables (smaller) need to be put in plastic bins. Plastic bags are not acceptable, because they slow down the sorting process. NEW!!! Large recyclable plastic items such as pails, buckets, lawn furniture, toys, coolers, etc. may be left next to the recycling bins. Caps, labels and lids can remain on bottles, cans, and jars. All food container recyclables with food residue should be slightly rinsed.
