Most memorable soccer experience: Working with so many kids, coaches and people over the years who
make every day/evening a new adventure for me as an educator in the game I love. Most recent, were the 37
days this past summer winning a US Youth Regional Championship, advancing to the US Youth President’s
National Championship bring home Idaho’s first US Youth National Champion with the FC Nova –
SuperNova U16 Girls. Then August 1st claiming Idaho’s first US CLUB National Championship, claiming
the US Club National Championship in the U16 Girls Super Group. Best summer ever.
Favorite teams/players: Manchester United – Netherlands National Team – Eric Cantona –Zinadine
Zidane – Lothar Matthaus
Mentor/hero: Coaching has to be Bob Gansler and Dr. Thomas Fleck. Life my grandfather, Wesley
Simmonsen
Favorite way to spend a few free hours: Really don’t get free time with the gig, but no excuses. Love
spending time with my wife, my 8yr old daughter and 6 yr old son.
Last book read: A Clash of Kings, George R. R. Martin
Coaching philosophy: No one ever keeps the medals and trophies when they are done, grown up, removed
from the game. But the development of Championship Mentality is what defines you. Carrying that mentality
into all you do will take you further in life then any of the trophies, medals and records of your playing days.
I want my kids to be associated with youngsters, young adults and adults who have that mentality. Making
them the best without ever having to refer to a trophy case to define that mentality.
Praise the good!!!
Favorite quote: “That which you let bother you will” – Confucius and “The only two things you really can
control are your ATTITUDE and your EFFORT” – Dr. Greg Dale – Duke University Sports Psychologist
