Course Objectives
About The Trainers
Estimation of measurement uncertainty is one of the critical aspects in ISO/IEC
17025. It is now widely recognised that the evaluation of the uncertainty associated
with a result is essential. Without the knowledge of measurement uncertainty, the
results cannot be considered complete.
Dr Teo Tang Lin
The objective of this course is to provide a deeper appreciation of the approaches
in estimating of measurement uncertainty. This Workshop will include a hands-on
session so as to equip the participants with both the theoretical and practical
aspects of measurement uncertainty.
Dr Teo Tang Lin received her PhD degree at the National University of Singapore
in 2007, and has 6 years of experience in organic chemistry with expertise
covering organic synthesis, and chemicals characterization using NMR
spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, elemental analysis and chromatography. Tang
Lin’s work in CML focuses on the development of capabilities for the
measurement of non-permitted additives and preservatives in food matrices using
high accuracy methods, and purity assessment of organic chemicals as reference
standards.

Tang Lin received training in the estimation of measurement uncertainty (MU)
during her training attachment at the National Measurement Institute of Australia
Ms Cheow Pui Sze
Pui Sze graduated with Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree and Master of
Science (Chemistry) degree from the National University of Singapore. Ms Cheow
is a Scientist of the Organic Chemistry Section of the Chemical Metrology
Laboratory (CML), Applied Sciences Group (ASG), HSA. In April 2009, she has
completed a Measurement Uncertainty (MU) Train-the-Trainer course organized
by the Asia Pacific Metrology Programme Technical Committee of Amount of
Substance (APMP TCQM). Since then, Pui Sze has conducted a number of
measurement uncertainty courses for the ASG laboratories within HSA and is
involved in determining the measurement uncertainty of comparative studies
undertaken by the CML
Who should Attend
This course is designed for all laboratory managers and personnel involved in Civil Engineering Testing. All applicant and accredited laboratories from the Civil Engineering Testing field are
encouraged to attend.
Award of certificate
A certificate of attendance will be issued to participants who have completed the course.
