Kaddatz, DVM, has been recognized by the New York State Veterinary Medical Society for his dedicated service to the field of veterinary medicine and his state society. NYSVMS President Dean Snyder, DVM presented Dr. Kaddatz with the NYSVMS Distinguished Life Service Award at the New York State Veterinary Conference’s Celebration Dinner in Ithaca October 17, 2015. The Distinguished Life Service Award is the highest honor to be conferred upon a member of the NYSVMS. It honors an individual of the highest caliber in the profession; one who has been a good and faithful NYSVMS member for a period of 35 years and has actively and fully partaken in Society activities. Laurel Kaddatz, DVM was born and raised on a dairy farm in central Minnesota, earned his DVM from the University of Minnesota, and completed an internship at Cornell University. He was a senior partner for 25 years practicing in Rochester, NY. He became hospital director/co-owner at Pound Ridge Veterinary Center in Pound Ridge, NY in 2003. Dr. Kaddatz has been named a Westchester County’s TopVets multiple times. Active at many levels in organized veterinary medicine, Dr. Kaddatz served as president of the New York State Veterinary Medical Society in 2000 and was the recipient of their Veterinarian of the Year award in 2002. He is also the recipient of the NYSVMS Merit Award and Presidential Citation. He is a member of Westchester/Rockland VMA. He chaired the American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Veterinary Service, co-chaired the AVMA Governance Performance Review Committee, and is a New York alternate delegate to their House of Delegates. In addition, through AVMA’s Committee on International Veterinary Affairs, he is AVMA’s General Assembly representative at the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) Congress. Committed to continuing education, Dr. Kaddatz is a past president and board of directors member of the North American Veterinary Community. A nonprofit organization, the NAVC provides world-class continuing professional development for the global veterinary healthcare community. Dr. Kaddatz is also a board member and treasurer of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association Foundation. The WSAVA Foundation mission is to improve global companion animal care through science and education.
