CAP Freshmen Checklist Is never too early to start planning for college Keep in mind that Colleges look for: o Strong GPA. o Challenging high school curriculum. o Involvement in extracurricular activities in the school and community. Select challenging curriculum for your sophomore, junior, and senior year. o Find out about Dual Enrollment classes and Scholars program with your guidance counselor o Find out about (AP) Advance Placement courses and Honors courses Keep your grades up, every year counts! o All of your classes are calculated into your GPA Become familiarwith college admission requirements and work on setting a goal. o What schools are you interested in applying to? o What does that school look for academically? Make your summer count! o Do volunteer work (start community service project) o Find out about summer programs at colleges and univerisites. Get involved in extracurricular activities o Join clubs and athletic teams. Extracurricular activities look appealing in college applications. Start Early, meet with your guidance counselor and discuss future plans and goals. o Talk about possibilities of taking classes that will enhance your curriculum. Keep records of extracurricular activities and community service.
