To Whom It May Concern: As a portion of the 2015 - 2016 Spiritual Community Ambassador selection process, the Department of Residence Life and Campus Ministry is requesting two references for each of the candidates. You have been asked by one of our candidates to complete a reference call. To aid you in this evaluation, a brief description and the expectations of a Spiritual Community Advisor (SCA) at St. Ambrose University are provided below. The boundaries of a student’s learning extend far beyond the walls of the classroom. Residence halls play an important role in nurturing a student’s total educational development. Since 2007 St. Ambrose has been offering a special living option available to academically oriented individuals that value success. The Spirituality Community Advisor is a student-staff member who lives and works in the Spirituality Community within the residence hall. This individual works closely with the resident advisors within the community to create an environment where an ideal of lifelong learning is established and nurtured. The position allows the SCA to assume several different roles such as peer counselor, programmer, disciplinarian, resource coordinator and friend. The SCA is expected to challenge him/her as well as those around them. It can be fulfilling, frustrating, stimulating, and time consuming. The SCA position is not for everyone - it demands patience and true dedication. Please complete this reference with care. Your input is very important to the department, as well as to the person for whom you complete this form. Thank you for your time and consideration. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at 563-333-6151. Sincerely, Fr. Chuck Adam Campus Ministry
