1 in 20 Women in cities have breast cancer
One out of every 22 women in our country suffer from breast cancer .Cases have doubled in the
last decade. Several cases are seen below the age of 40 years and are presenting in later
stages of the disease, making cure difficult .
Risk factors for developing breast cancer include
1) Early menarche (2) Late menarche (3) No children (4) No breast feeding (5) smoking

40. Any change in size, shape of the breast, skin, texture such as puckering dimpling,
appearance of the nipple and any discharge from the nipple should be reported to the doctor.
Women should report all types of lumps to their doctors; this will help in early diagnosis and
possibly even a complete cure.
