The Summer School is fully supported by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and by the rector of Ghent University. The Summer School will take place between 6-15 July in Ghent, Belgium. Read more BELGIUM, GHENT UNIVERSITY - SUMMER SCHOOL COOPERATION AND CONFLICT IN EU-EAST ASIA RELATIONS Dates: 31/08/2015 – 11/09/2015 Application deadline: 01/07/2015 This course will provide international graduate students with a broad and in-depth understanding of EU-East Asia relations. It focuses on aspects of conflict and cooperation in EU and East-Asia relations and will cover different topics including institutions, trade, politics, security, development cooperation and environment. The course also pays considerable attention to current issues in EU-East Asia issues. The Summer School benefits from the extensive expertise at the Centre for EU Studies and the Department of Languages and Cultures at Ghent University. In addition, the course will invite experts including international researchers as well as representatives of the work field. Through the interaction with the lecturers, group discussions and presentations, participants will learn to participate in a debate on an high academic level in English. The 2015 ISS focus theme will be "State Fragmentation, Regional Crises and War Endings". The International Summer School will take place between 19-31 July in Nicosia. Read more FRANCE, UNIVERSITY JOSEPH FOURIER (GRENOBLE 1) BACHELOR SUMMER PROGRAMME Dates: 1/06/2015 – 10/07/2015 Application deadline: 26/03/2015 The Bachelor Summer Programme at Joseph Fourier University of Grenoble gives students the opportunity to obtain credits for their home university and meet students from all over the word. The special character of the International Summer Course resides in its programme of individual mentoring. Not only does this approach help students to get acquainted with the University, but it also introduces them to the city of Giessen and its environs. The interdisciplinary programme is designed for postgraduates, undergraduates with some basic knowledge in the area of biotechnology, and young professionals, who want to learn about Europe's way of dealing with the challenges of a new and developing industry such as biotechnology, and who want to gain some first-hand experience with German and European culture. Read more MALTA, UNIVERSITY OF MALTA - SUMMER SCHOOL MEDITERRANEAN COAST: THREATS AND OPPORTUNITIES Dates: 13/07/2015 – 18/07/2015 The Summer School - Mediterranean Coast: Threats and opportunities will provide participants with an appreciation of the complex life-supporting systems of the Mediterranean coast, and of the nature of the various environmental threats and risks that these are being exposed to as a result of regional and local economic and social developments. Furthermore , the course will outline the various tools and management options to successfully control and manage such risks in a sustainable manner. This 6-day intensive summer training course will be aimed at a wide range of postgraduate students including those with some technical or managerial backgrounds. It would be suitable as a refresher course for environmental managers or as an introductory course for postgraduate students following a wide range of subject areas (e.g. environmental law; environmental management; environmental engineering; economics). The programme focuses on creativity improvement, new l ecturing and learning methods, application of the social media in teaching and learning and acquiring the basics of relaxation. The summer school will take place between 1-5 September at the University of Malta. Read more NORWAY, NORWEGIAN UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY - INTERNATIONAL SUMMER COURSE FOR NORWEGIAN LANGUAGE AND NATURE Dates: Course A: 23/07/2015 – 15/08/2015 & Course B: 27/07/2015 – 15/08/2015 Application deadline: 30/05/2015 The Norwegian summer course is fun and challenging, and a good way to make new friends and learn about Norway. The language course consists of 70 hours of clas ses and work in selfstudy groups on different language tasks. The NTNU Office of International Relations offers a social programme, which includes "get -toknow" Trondheim activities, various dinners/barbecues, weekend and day trips in the surroundings of Trondheim and, of course, a lot of fun. The social programme is an integral part of the language course. The summer course will take place in Trondheim, Norway. Read more POLAND, ADAM MICKIEWICZ UNIVERSITY IN POZNÁN - SLAVIA FIELD SCHOOL IN MORTUARY ARCHAEOLOGY Dates: 29/06/2015 – 15/08/2015 Application deadline: 15/03/2015 Slavia Field School in Mortuary Archaeology offers seven weeks of archaeological exploration and adventure at the prehistoric/post-medieval multicultural site in Drawsko, Poland. The program is divided into two sessions between 29 June - 22 July and 23 July-15 August. Read more POLAND, ADAM MICKIEWICZ UNIVERSITY IN POZNÁN - SUMMER SCHOOL OF POLISH LANGUAGE AND CULTURE Dates: 3/08/2015 – 21/08/2015 Summer School of Polish Language and Culture is organised by Adam Mickiewicz University. The school's curriculum covers classes which include: Polish language course, lectures, workshops and language consultancies for beginners. The intensive Polish language course is carried within the time of 4 -6 hours per day and its classes are arranged due to the language level of learners. After the language course students are warmly invited to attend the lectures held either in Polish or English language. The Summer School will take place between 3-21 August in Poznán, Poland. Read more POLAND, ADAM MICKIEWICZ UNIVERSITY IN POZNAN - THE AMPERE NMR SCHOOL Dates: 14/06/2015 – 20/06/2015 The AMPERE NMR School is organised by the Macromolecular Physics Department of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, in collaboration with Centre for European Integration, under the auspices of the Groupement AMPERE. The School is addressed to young scientists (post graduate students, Ph D students and postdoctoral fellows) and is focused on theoretical and experimental aspects of NMR methods, as well as on the application of NMR in nanoscience and nanotechnology. The AMPERE NMR School will take place between 14-20 June in Zakopane, Poland. Read more POLAND, ADAM MICKIEWICZ UNIVERSITY IN POZNÁN - SUMMER SCHOOL - ECOLOGICAL STATE OF THE LAKE DURING RESTORATION MEASURES Dates: 28/06/2015 – 12/07/2015 Application deadline: at the end of April Summer School - Ecological state of the lake during restoration measures will be held in Wagrowiec and Poznań. The Durowskie Lake situated in Wagrowiec is restored with unique and complex method, to fulfilling the requirements of the WFD. One of the main aims of the Summer School will be the study new restoration techniques and their influence on the ecological state of the lake. The summer school will take place between 28 June - 27 July, in Wagrowiec and Poznań, Poland. Read more POLAND, ADAM MICKIEWICZ UNIVERSITY IN POZNÁN - POZNÁN SUMMER SCHOOL OF BIOINFORMATICS - ANALYSIS OF RNAS Dates: 06/07/2015 – 10/07/2015 Application deadline: 01/07/2015 The 11th edition of the Poznan Summer School of Bioinformatics will cover the analysis of RNA data, including such subjects like next-generation sequencing of transcriptomes (RNA- Seq), small RNAs discovery, long non-coding RNAs as well as secondary and tertiary structures of RNA molecules. The course is suitable both for beginners and for those who already have some basic knowledge in bioinformatics and find it necessary and interesting to learn more about bioinformatics applications in RNA studies. News Literacy is an innovative course, aimed to help students to become conscious news consumers through applying their critical thinking skills and work with current examples from news media. The course teaches how we should engage critically with this increasingly digitalizing wor ld we live in. How do we know if news is real, when is it exaggerated, how can we tell if its sources are dubious, if someone tries to fool us?
