INDEPENDENT AUTOMOTIVE AFTERMARKET DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION OF TURKEY
Independent Automotive Aftermarket Development Association of Turkey was founded in 1995
with an aim to promote and expand
Automative Aftermarket in Turkey.Independent
Automotive Aftermarket Development Association of Turkey is a member of FIGIEFA, an
international federation on the European Union platform promoting free and fair market
competition.
The majority of the complementary parts of a vehicle are manufactured by the automative
supply industry.The manufacturing firms not only provide the parts for the assembly but also
they introduce theseto the Aftermarket. The replacements parts used in case of maintanence,
repair or accident are supplied through 2 distinct channels:
1) OES chanel led by automative manufacturers,
2) Independent service provider and/or independent Aftermarket distributor manufacturing
various parts and delivering to the manufacturer and the end user.
Independent Automotive Aftermarket Development Association of Turkey comprised of leading
domestic and international suppliers in the aftermarket channel, international trade groups and
dealers,operates with an aim to improve the distribution channel, to have a more professional
structure and to reach the European Standarts.
OUR ACTIVITIES

To follow the new competiton law and sector-specific notifications so as to contribute to the
development of Aftermarket.

To represent Aftermarket on the state level,especially on the undersecretariat level.

To carry out studies in order to justify that the product and service quality in the Aftermarket
corresponds to the quality in OES Channel at minimum.

To
communicate
the
progress
and
enhancements
in
the
sector
with
the
members,representatives and the other sectoral institutions and organizations.

To follow the innovations and new developments in the EU Aftermarket through FIGIEFA.

To generate jointpurchasing projects to add value to the members.

To participate in sectoral exhibitions and to increase awareness and perception in the written
and visual media.
In compliance with EU harmonization process started in 2000, along with the other
independent member associations, Independent Automotive Aftermarket Development
Association of Turkey became a member of FIGIEFA .
FIGIEFA
FIGIEFA (Fédération Internationale des Grossistes, Importateurs & Exportateurs en Fournitures
Automobiles / International Federation of Automotive Aftermarket Distributors) represents 29
associations in 22 countries worldwide. FIGIEFA, founded in 1955, aims at the protection of free
and fair competition within EU and other international platforms in the Aftermarket sector. The
headquarters is in Brussels, Belgium.
FIGIEFA defends the right of motorist consumers’ right to take their vehicles serviced ,repaired
and maintained at a workshop of their choice and
intends to pave the way for an effective
competition in the Automotive Aftermarket sector.

Representing the interests of its members towards European and international institutions, the role
of FIGIEFA is to monitor and accompany the design of legislation so as to maintain free and
effective competition in the market for vehicle replacements, servicing and repair.FIGIEFA is a
stakeholders’ representation accredited to the European Institutions . The Federation holds
consultative roster status at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe ( UNECE ) and
is a member of the World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations. (UN-ECE-WP29)
FIGIEFA monitors European and UNECE legislative projects that have an impact on the freedom
of all market operators to supply and purchase automative replacement parts, annd to have
access to technical information. On one hand, FIGIEFA aims to raise awareness of European
decision-makers on the importance of effective competition in the secondary automative markets,
for the benefit of motorists consumers and on the key role played by the independent spare parts
distributors. On the other hand, the Federation follows new developments in vehicle technology
and their impact on the “reparability” of vehicles and on the market of vehicle spare parts,servicing
and repair.
