Here are some fun ideas to keep your child busy during those snowy days when nursery may have to close! 1. Play, play, play in the snow and build an enormous snowman – bring your pictures in to nursery! 2. Rainbows in the snow: Add a tablespoon of food colouring to a number of spray COUNTING SNOWFLAKES Two snowflakes fell last night. The start of a blanket, fluffy and white. Then came three, then came four. Beautiful flakes, then more and more. Down, down the snowflakes fell I counted and counted flakes, until The yard was covered, the house was, too. A winter wonderland, that started with two! bottles, and shake well. Make at least 4 or 5 colours then dress warmly, and spray paint a nice, big arch in the snow. Add a second arch next to the first one, and keep adding coloured arches until you have a giant rainbow. You can also use paintbrushes for this activity. 3. Ice Windows (activity for a frosty day) Fill a small shallow food tray with water. Select and add some small colourful items, flower petals, little twigs, pieces of tin foil, ribbon beads etc. Pop into the freezer until solid. Remove from tray. Adult to make a small hole in the ice window and hang up outside. Ask child to describe what the sculpture looks/feels like. 4. Make homemade hot chocolate: You will need…3 cups milk ; 1/3 cup semi- sweet chocolate, grated; 1 tablespoon sugar; 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon; 1 egg Put milk into a microwave-safe container and cook on High in microwave for 2 minutes. Mix in chocolate, sugar, and cinnamon. In a small bowl, whisk an egg until smooth, then mix it into the chocolate mixture. Return to microwave and cook on High for 3 to 4 minutes or until foamy (be careful not to let it boil.) Whisk until smooth and pour into 3 mugs. Garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired. 5.
