Introduction
This year in Primary we are learning from the theme “Families Are
Forever”.
We have compiled this music booklet and CD to help your child learn
the lyrics and music to the songs that we are learning in Primary, and
have included challenges to help them learn to apply the doctrine of the
songs. We hope that this will help strengthen your family and support
you as you teach the gospel to your family.
Please help your child to complete the challenges. This will provide
you with an opportunity to talk about the gospel at home and
understand how your child’s testimony is developing.
As your child completes the challenges, please sign the bottom of the
appropriate page and feel free to write comments or make notes
anywhere that helps you both.
At the end of the year, each child will be presented with a Music Award.

He Sent His Son (CS 34)
How could the Father tell the world of love and tenderness?
He sent His Son a new borne babe, with peace and holiness.
How could the father show the world the pathway we should go?
He sent His Son to walk with men on earth that we may know.
How could the father tell the world of sacrifice, of death?
He sent His Son to die for us and rise with living breath.
What does the Father ask of us? What do the scriptures say?
Have faith, have hope, live like His Son, help others on their way.
What does He ask?
Live like His Son.
Challenge
Write the questions of the song on individual pieces of paper. In Family Home Evening, have
your family choose a question and together discuss the answer. Then sing the song together.

And seek for God’s light to direct me from birth.

Challenge
Ask your parents to tell you about your birth and discuss how God’s light directs you from
birth”. Commit to praying every morning and every night so that you can always “walk in His
way”. Sing this song before you pray.

Read the scriptures associated with this song (John 15:13 and Mosiah 3:5-8) and write down
how you feel about Christ’s sacrifice for you and place it in your journal. Share your testimony
with someone you care about.

The Family Is Of God (New song)
Our Father has a family. It’s me!
It’s you, all others too: We are His children.
He sent each one of us to earth, through birth,
To live and learn here in families.

God gave us families to help us become what He wants us to be –
This is how He shares His love, for the family is of God.
A father’s place is to preside, provide,

Challenge
Show your family members that you love them by the way you communicate with them. Each
week of April work on these things: Week (1) speak kindly and gently; Week (2) forgive others
when they upset you; Week (3) compliment others regularly; Week (4) be patient and
tolerant of others (don’t get angry).

You have been born of “goodly parents”. Think of 3 things that your parents have taught you
and how those things have made you a good person and write a letter of gratitude to your
‘goodly parents’.

I Will Be Valiant (CS 162)
The Lord needs valiant servants
To do His work in the latter days
Who follow the teachings of Jesus
And serve His people in a loving way
I will be His servant
And keep my covenants valiantly
I’ll stand for truth, I’ll stand for right
The Lord can depend on me.
Challenge
Show Heavenly Father that you are a Valiant Servant who “serves His people in a loving way”
by doing an act of service happily. Record the service you did and how it made you feel in
your journal.

Baptism
Jesus came to John the Baptist,
In Judea long ago,
And was baptized by immersion
In the River Jordan's flow.
"To fulfill the law," said Jesus,
When the Baptist questioned why,
"And to enter with my Father
In the kingdom up on high."
Now we know that we must also
Witness faith in Jesus' word,
Be baptized to show obedience,
As was Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Challenge
Each time you take the sacrament this month, sit quietly and think about your baptism. In
your journal – during sacrament – write a promise of what you will do this week to keep your
baptism promise to “always remember Him”. Then…keep that promise!

I’ll Seek the Lord Early (CS 108)
I'll seek the Lord early while in my youth,
And he will help me to know the truth.
I'll search the scriptures and find him there,
Then go to our Father in fervent prayer.
I'll seek the Lord early, and I'll obey
His living prophets in all they say.
I'll keep his commandments; his love will abound.
I will seek the Lord early, and he will be found.
Challenge
Encourage your family to start a Morning Devotional together at breakfast time by singing a
song, saying a prayer and reading the scriptures as a family for 10 minutes. (Read the
scriptures every day for 10 minutes even if you can’t do it with your family). Sing this song as
part of your devotional.
